I know its a throw away article that usually gets more wrong than right but I still reckon that's borderline offensive to publish on the official AFL website.

For the record the link highlighted as 'both wanted out of this mess' is the article about Hill officially requesting a trade, where they say it's primarily because his partner wants to return to Victoria.

You know what? You're not wrong. When Freo finally win their first flag, it will be more glorious than any of the Eagle flag wins, purely from the degree of difficulty that it took to get the club there.

Eagles won their first after only being in the league 6 odd years loaded with WAs best talent.

Ours will be the one to remember when it finally happens

If Sumich was to become head coach he would want to have an outstanding year otherwise the pitchforks will be out and the I told you so brigade would want blood ,the supporters are already divided ,we really need someone who can unite us ,been reading bigfooty for a while now and the division is manifesting into some ugly shit

Ross seems to generate an almost obsessive following towards him or an upward creeping dislike against him, over time. It's been hard to find middle ground.

Any truth to Sumich walking out on a Peel game because it was raining? Wonder if any of those boys are still around

There’s a difference between being on a panel delivering an external review of the club compared to picking a coach
 
From the interviews i've heard Jlo do since last week, he is not convincing me he is ready to take on a head coaching role. He has been an assistant at freo, eagles and pies, but never coached a team in his own right.

Might seem harsh, but i don't just need someone to have played 150 games for freo to be the man.

Sumich is no chance and i hope same applies to woosha - they would both piss off a large portion of the fan base.

Hope the club stops letting the media or colin young set the agenda of who should be our coach and picks the best qualified guy

On the Duff and Quarters podcast they've said that JLo has got a wonderful football brain and is a real asset in the coaches box, but still gets nervous around media. That sort of thing he'll become more comfortable with in time, but might explain why he's not coming off so well in TV interviews atm.

Another prime example of Barrett being prone to ongoing histrionics and not observant to the facts.

post Lyon era, we need a coach who is a good (B) media performer (Lyon being A+). ...Past and current players always say how they used to watch Lyon's pressa's - it was required viewing. I'm sure the same applies to Clarko, Buckly, Hardwick, you get my drift...JLo won't last long learning that craft in the hot seat...he will get eaten alive by jounos, then the supporters, particularly the ones pissed the club didn't let Lyon see out his contract.

Lets just say for a moment they do a thorough process and selected Sumich because they believed he is the best choice --- they immediately draw a line through and go next best right? what is it with the Sumich hate... he is an ex eagle, he mumbles when he speaks, hate him, not a nice bloke, can't coach cause he waffles on to the players... some of the things I've heard on here as reasons for no to Sumich.

If the panel think he can coach, is the right guy, why would we even bother to interview him. All those against should be out there now lobbying for him not to be even interviewed if so many fans are against, why wait till after.

I just want the best damned coach we can get whoever it is and stuff all the BS.

Simpson came in as a good media performer from day 1. it's required of a senior coach. Name one from another club in recent time who you thought was average and they survived and thrived and learnt on the job??? There are more jornos than players and it's blood sport to get rid of a senior coach. If they see a weakness they won't let up till they get rid of them.

A good media performer does not wrap his arms around a grown man who king hit a teenager in the jaw for everyone to see, and then straight away come out and say he didn't mean it instead of putting out a genuine apology. sozzzz

Go back in his first few years when they weren’t doing as well and he wasn’t showing much at all in the media

I have - informed the club yesterday via their member survey that if they appoint Sumich as head coach they will have lost 2 members!
