Justin Reeves resigns

How is this racism kerfuffle anything to do with Reeves? His name wasn’t mentioned in it as all as far as I can remember. And the events took place before he arrived, no?

I don’t think it has anything to do with it. He was Kennet’s man and when Jeff was booted then he had to go too. The new board is cleaning house.
He has copped most of the criticism for the way it was handled from other clubs.

Always felt like more of a corporate hire than a culturally aligned one.
Never looked particularly comfortable in front of camera or speaking on behalf of the Club.
Think we'll do better with the next selection without Jeffrey hand selecting for his own particular penchant of sycophant supporter and submissive enactor.
Hawthorn person please with the appropriate credentials.

Agreed on this - I don't think Reeves had any responsibility in the accusations timeframe. Maybe people highlighting it are meaning the handling of the report itself.

Ye he was rubbish anyway. Has done nothing of significance for the club
Here’s a couple of things the club has pointed out

  • Achieved year-on-year profits, ensuring the club’s long-term financial sustainability
  • Secured funding from all three levels of government and started work to build a world-class community, training and administration facility at the Kennedy Community Centre in Dingley Village
  • Divested the club’s gaming venues and revenues whilst ensuring ongoing football club profitability
  • Seen membership and commercial partner growth including re-signing long-term contracts with Tasmania, iiNet, Nissan, KFC and a host of others

He was very good behind the scenes, and was a really big reason we were able to set up a strong women's program (in terms of resources).

Agreed, on camera he was a mess.
We did get a future AA ruckman because of him though

From what I’m told he actually did care a lot about creating cultural change and what not. I feel like he’s been unfairly getting a bad wrap and that may have contributed to this.
You are kidding.Let his hatred of Clarkson pervade his view on the racism investigation. Today Clarkson Hodge and a host of others are marginally back towards a footy club they served so well. The only surprise here was that a smart man like Kennett backed him all the way. Move on.
He's a good man who was put in an awful situation.

I'm very, very disappointed about this.
yep that’s why they sacked him after the meeting Monday.

It's a myth that he hated clarko.
He disagreed with the direction clarko was taking the club, but never hated clarkson as a person, and definitely no vendetta (personal opinion of course based on interactions with him - other execs who've already departed may have more of a vendetta)

How so? Reeves' backing of Sam and Clarko's departure happened before anyone had knowledge of the accusations. Even then, his hands were tied when it came to the Egan report not asking Clarko anything, he was duty bound to hand it over to the AFL.

Whilst I don’t agree with everything you post, you’re not wrong very often. This one is the one that interests me the most.

For my mind he was always going to get made to walk the plank as a result of commissioning Egan’s report.

Whatever your viewpoint on the whole racism saga that report was an absolute mess (like ridiculously bad) and even now it has the potential to cost the club a lot of money. Essentially it’s radioactive.

One thing I really want to know is whether Egan went completely rouge when doing his report (that’s not a report) or if he was actually following the guidelines given to him by the club?

Because I have never seen anything remotely resembling the structure and content of what was in that report, it’s something else again.

I think our club has changed for the better in his tenure. Was clear it was getting toxic under Clarko and he was a big part in getting rid of him.

Good leaders make decisions they know will be unpopular with some people for the betterment of the organisation.

I literally know nothing about Justin outside of that lol

Hodge didn’t hold back in his response to Kennetts tweet about Dimma quitting as coach saying it was a dig at Clarko.
There is definitely some bad blood there amongst some ex players and coaches which is rather sad TBH.

I keep having visions of Egan “going completely rouge!”
