USA Kamala Harris the 47th President of the United States - Hopefully.

If Harris loses in November, Trump’s administration is slated to implement and accelerate policies that undermine the rights of women and minorities on issues including abortion, immigration, education and voting rights.

The success of this agenda will have far-reaching consequences for the US and its allies, not to mention galvanising illiberal governments world-wide which are implementing populist, anti-rights agendas.

Yet, even if Trump fails and Harris becomes the next US President, it is clear that the gendered, racialised mess of media reporting is not a blip, but a characteristic of our media landscape.

The funny thing is that I think Harris would struggle in a genuine policy debate against somebody like Romney. It's why she struggled in the previous Democratic nomination race.

Sticking to catch-phrases and steadying the Biden path into her term will work against a flailing GOP with Trump and Vance, but it would have struggled against a decent politician.

perhaps, possibly, maybe, could be.... she’s evolved since then. four years as vice prez might just do that. we'll see how she goes when doing pressers.

Not sure how closely you follow US politics, but if this whole thing gets decided by which teams has the most people show up - Trump loses.

If it was that then we’d be at the end of Sanders’ second term now. The carry on about attendance numbers from both sides is pretty inane.

That said, it is a good indication of the passion from a certain side, and there’s no doubt that Kamala’s folks are feeling the wind in their sails right now.

This and I heard the Mooch in an interview recently say 20.2m baby-boomer voters have died since the last election and 40m Gen Xers have been added to voter roles. Not sure how true, but if true can't be good thing for Donald.

I suspect she is a very organised type, meticulous in preparation, like a criminal prosecutor. She may not be so good at winging it. Walz is excellent at handling a crowd, probably much better than KH and I suspect better at winging it.

Trump making sure Covid was more fatal than it need to be and affecting his older supporters disproportionately, was in retrospect, probably not a good idea.

It’s amazing that you are still not over Bernie. BTW He’s endorsed Kamala already, get on board.

The point isn't me ruing the loss, the point is people can fool themselves into thinking this expression of passionate support means they're going to win, when there's obviously way more to it.

Obviously things would probably be better if Sanders was elected President in 2016 than what did eventuate, but he's been way behind his supporters on opposing the genocide and is probably outlasting his usefulness as the figurehead of the American left (I would take his French and British equivalents in a heartbeat).

Kamala's generally made positive steps since Biden dropped out, and I do like Walz. She'll need to oppose the genocide that the administration she's a part of in order for me to "support" her, but I suspect my endorsement will not make a difference to the election.

Are you a Trump fan or an impartial viewe

That's inconsistent with a post further up, a pages or two back.

It was Fox from 2020 about polling their audience on current political issues.

Hardly maga sentiment in the polling results. Quite the opposite.

Do you really believe all or the majority of Fox viewers are maga?

Edit: here's an example Blue1980
I don't think saying a majority of people who watch Fox being MAGA is the same as saying most americans should be on terrorist watch lists.

I don't actually think the majority are MAGA, but it would be a sizeable percentage. Doesn't mean they are all domestic Jan 6 style domestic terrorists.

Yes, I know you don't think, but like I said, which you stated, 'no one ever claimed ever'.

I'm just pointing out there are some on these boards who do believe all maga's are J6 terrorists and that most Fox watchers are maga.

i obviously placed way too much weight on your “first monetary contribution to the harris /walz campaign” claim. didn't consider it might have come via oz. hefty exchange rate these days.

have no idea what the toto bizo is all about.
Yes, the exchange rate made me rethink further contribution amounts. I only contributed once in 2020 for Biden. My other contributions were for Pete Buttigieg during the primaries. I have a cousin who is running for re-election for the Illinois House of Representatives(state level) and might throw in a few dollars her way this year.

The Toto reference was in relation to the Wizard of Oz when Dorothy realises she's not in Kansas anymore. Dad joke. I'm old.

He would need to find a way to try and spin it. Fascinating to see what that looks like.
