You can see Trump views this as hurting him by the tone of his responses. Interestingly enough he expects his supporters to clean forget his convictions, his business dealings, his questionable understanding of consent laws but the idea that he might disrespect the military is a step too far.
The own goal is that the whole Arlington thing was the Trump campaign's attempt to win back those that serve/served that they lost through his faux pas like calling those that get injured or killed in combat "losers", saying he "does not understand what is in it for them", asking that injured vets not be invited to his events, claiming the Medal of Freedom is "much better" than the Congressional Medal of Honour (and then doubling down on that when trying to justify his remarks).
And of course in true Trump style, during their planned and staged event to try to win back those they offended, they managed to offend and disrespect them much much further. And then blamed the family of the fallen for the actions of his own campaign staff.
But you will keep posting videos or statements from Republicans and Trump aligned sources, while ignoring the videos and statements from actual veterans and their associations that are independent.
I don't think Trump or his die hard supporters care if he disrespects the military or service members or their families, given all the times he has done so. His advisers/team are probably pushing to retaliate though.
Of course, contrary to the buffoonery on display in this thread, it may have a bigger negative impact on the military demographic itself.
Notably Trump's leads among veterans (19 points down to 10), active duty members (19 points to 5) and their families (12 points to 2) have dropped considerably since he first contested for the presidency in 2016. I think there were some surveys that even had Biden ahead in some groups last time around. Remarkable for a Republican leaning group.
The fact that that's still the case is astounding, consider Republicans records on VA services, and their relative dovishness since Bush.
