I've known a few people that lean towards Trump who you would absolutely have no problem having them around children, my own father being one of them, a man with an IQ in the 150s but like a lot of humans of a particular era still get stuck in their old fashioned ways.

The extreme rhetoric from both sides these days makes me think politics is almost replacing religion. We need to be able to pull back and try to see people for who they really are (not talking about online grifters here, just regular people) outside of whatever horse they are backing in a race. Now granted when one of the horses is particularly nasty and goes around kicking people in the face, so to speak, we might wonder how anyone could back them but in this age of constant flooding of disinformation, claims of fake news, echo chambers etc I suppose one can see how it happens.
