Do you think it's news for anyone that US politicians are 'bought off' or otherwise compromised?

It isn't about 'the deep state', it's about the fact that America's status as the wealthiest and most powerful country in the world has eroded democracy over the decades and placed some daunting barriers between government and 'the people'.

But the fact that US democracy is rather sick does not mean that we should let a butcher like Trump anywhere near the operating table.

Honestly the only people I've heard talk about this have been. The MAGA cultists, unlike the Peuto Rico controversy.

I think a big difference between that and Hillarys, is that Biden isn't running, and isn't taken seriously.

Plus she meant it when she said it (regardless of whether she later regretted saying it). Biden clearly didn't intend to say it (though he quite probably thinks it) and walked it back immediately.

I also think the significance of the Clinton 'deplorables' comment has been overplayed. There is no evidence that it actually cost her the election since there are so many other factors to explain it.

The most prevalent racial or ethnic group for the United States was the White alone non-Hispanic population at 57.8%. This decreased from 63.7% in 2010.

Although, if the table in the X post includes Hispanics as white, then it could work
(the census data is from 2020)

Could be just me, but the big take out from that was that Trump said 250 million.

The only figure in that table that has 250 million on it is Whites column

Of coure, Trump could have been talking about eligible voters.

I think the basic mandate of a country's leader is to put their own citizens first. Make their lives better. It should be rule No. 1. Harris and Biden have shown they dont care about their citizens, just how they look on the international stage sending endless billions to Ukraine during a cost of living crisis and a hurricane.

From East Palestine to Helene they have shown they dont care.

My guess is you want the US to fail which is why you cant think of anything you agree eith.
