I'm with Wednesday. The election was rigged. Otherwise Zondor would have been elected. :stern look

I think the problem for you was the strong suggestion that you were just a front for serial non-poster/relocation supporter/compound interest advocate, Onip. The good oil had him standing behind you the whole time. And Devil Fish behind him. And then Artichoke behind him. I'm guessing in a kind of train-like formation.

On that note, congrats to Will/Laycock.

Commiserations to CC.

The bullshit suggestion that the voting process is shoddy is bullshit.

There's two key things you have now, which you didn't have before: the club pays for candidate statements to be sent to every member, which dramatically flattens the playing field for candidates who don't have the money to mail everyone.

Second, online voting opens the field a lot more for candidates to appear to people who don't normally vote in these things, and the whole armful of proxies at the AGM bullshit is removed.

Both of these reforms, which dramatically assist non incumbents - were brought in under the tyrannical rule of the strongarmed Arocca Brayshaw Junta.

Obviously, the incumbent has the benefits of incumbency, whatever the **** value that is in a North Melbourne board election.

But whether Laycock (who seems excellent, and I reckon it's a compliment to the current board and Kim Jong Il James Brayshaw that they got her on) joins the board in September, or March, or May, or April - to replace a clearly over it Stephen Head (50% meeting attendance according to the annual report) is meaningless.

The board would have been more remiss to have simply let Head continue to not give a shit anymore and not have replaced him.

Reckon with how the board sits now if Geoff Lewis goes next year and Carnegie sticks her hand up she'd be a very good shout.

I'd vote for her.

I think it's Huey Lewis and Funky who face the music next year.
True, and if you think about it, Lewis and Funky will have been on the board for 5 years at the end of next year, with 3 years added on if they go around again.

Wouldn't surprise me if one dropped off middle of next year. Another conspiracy?

I'd vote for Funky, no doubt about that.:thumbsu:

I have a sneaking suspicion that Ricky Ponting might have a little more free time 12 months from now.

"More square Punner, more square"

Obviously Punter's value in the Tassie thing can't be overestimated.

With earnings of $3.5M in the past year, he's gonna need a push.

A cafe within the bowels of Aegis Park Facilities could tip him over though. Tough call.

I'd vote for her.

Provided she is endorsed as JB's preferred candidate...

I don't see why we should be deviating from what the admin want to do. I just honestly don't.

....etc, etc.

Also, don't mean to nitpick, but didn't you say that you would consider supporting Caroline's candidacy in, quote, "say, five years time", on the proviso that she had "progressed in her professional life" and has been "able to work with admin in a constructive way to provide "value" to the club through innovative stuff" ?

Just out of interest, what has happened in the 3 weeks since you posted the above to make you alter your timeline ?

What was the vote total for each candidate? I'm interested in watching the voting trends over time and also the impact, if any, of the online voting.

No one knows.

"Putty Nose" Brayshaw took off with the ballot box.

This bullshit dismissal of the criticism of the voting process is bullshit!

This bullshit use of the word bullshit twice in a sentence to enforce my bullshit sentiment is also bullshit!

Congratulations to them both, and sincere thanks to Caroline for standing and reminding us what a blessing it is to have an excess of qualified, committed people wanting to contribute as directors and to have the right to make a choice.

Someone worthy has missed out, but no-one unworthy has got in, as far as I can see, so it would be great to minimise the sniping.

True and how healthy is our club when this can happen
