Final training run and team announcement is tonight im pretty sure. So will know tonight/tomorrow.

Final training is tomorrow night at Murch.

I believe there are 4 players with injuries from the weekends games who are unlikely to be fit for this weekend - Godsmark (Undera), Green & Hateley (Avenel), & Daff (Lanky). Disappointing for the KDL as all 4 of them would most likely have been in the final side - Godsy was captain.

Yes - really disappointing for these guys. Fortunately we still have some quality players available to replace them.

Big loss for us with godsmark espiecally! Who are the likely replacements that would cover for them! Very interested to see how lamaro and williams go as there age and body might catch up with them this week with the step up in level. Both great players coming to the end

You would have to have Russell Lee on ball in my opinion. Lowe is getting on in years and Lee has been unstoppable this year, putting him on a wing would be a waste at centre clearances.

Otherwise, I find it pretty hard to fault that side. The Rushworth boys and Fraser I really don't know enough about to comment.

I believe that Horsburgh and Lee are the best 2 onballers in the comp at the moment ( My Opinion )

Kdl just not good enough yesterday going down to picola fairly comfortably! thought kdl were to slow for picola and got outrun. Anyone else see the game

Yer seen the game polo l agree we were a bit slow but that probally came around due to people not availible , they made the most of there chances and Chase didnt miss a goal l think , his run up for a shot at goal is further then l go on holidays

How is it that Ardmona players get picked for a side supposed to represent the whole league? I acknowledge that Ralph is a good player. But certainly not in the best 24 in the entire league.
If they picked him, just so that there was a representative from Ardmona...... Where was the representative from Longwood? Longwood arent great. But are 60 points better than Ardmona.

I'm not sure that it was a lack of people available that costed KDFL the win. It was simply poor choice in who was selected.
A champion team will always beat a team of champions. Too many individuals.

Defintaly wouldnt have had ralph in the team and played like he shouldnt have been in there. Also both sides would have had a few out from there best sides so thats not an excuse either! To put it simply they just got beaten by a better team and a side with more runners but was a good contest and dont think there was any major injuries which would please home clubs!

Surprised that a few people have had a crack about ralph, I spoke to Jake after the game & he named him as one of the kdl's best players.. He thought picola's spread & intensity at the ball were too great.

Ralph may not be the best in his position, but may have been the best of who made themselves available. Sounds like the selectors did a pretty thorough job & Jake also reckoned that Burnett coached pretty well; if blokes think they can do better they should put their hands up and have a crack.

Didn't watch the game but this is straight out of the Shepp News also Tav!
"Brent Ralph had the better of the ruck contests, but the foot skills of his on-ballers let KDFL down."

Ralph was an asset in the centre bounce ball-ups and got his hand to the ball 90% of the time. The KDL midfielders would of be hoping to win a lot of the clearences when he went their but got smashed.

He was definitly the better ruckman out of himself and breen on the day but in saying that neither got a lot of the ball around the ground.

Pretty much the difference on the day , was a good contest but they probabaly had the runners suited to the big bround.

G’day ...
KD footy were rated last against South Picola (.. RIP Wunghu 2012).
Lost by 28 points .. rated 32nd .. where do these money boys from KD Clubs now hold out there hands for more bucks now? If KD were 32nd and lost are they the last of the lost?
Not all teams were represented in that debacle. But there was a bloke recruited from the GVFL this year representing a team from the “nearly Kyabram” league .. a team with a 43 goal losing margin. How can he go back to his role in a Club with his hand held out for more dollars?

Clubs in a footy league are spending useless exorbitant salaries to players while the Clubs themselves are disappearing up Uranus!! .. I congratulate the scientist who discovered and named that planet!!
But .. How’s this for a joke! As published by another earlier.. Official Sports Bet odds for Cripes sake!!
Betting on KD footy .. a footy league which is now lower than 32nd?

Re: KDFL - 2012
Official Sports Bet odds for KDL Premiership
VT - $1.90
Nagambie - $3.10
Lancaster - $5.50
Murch - $9
Rushy - $14
Undera - $41
Stanhope - $41
Avenel - $41
Tally - $51
Girgarre - $401
Ardmona - $1001
Merrigum - $1501
Longwood - $500,001

How’s this for a proposition ... money men from the Northern Territory .. supposedly giving half a million to one of Longwood winning the flag!!

How about all punters put in $100 around the Redlegs fire-drum next "Thirsty Night". Clearances are still open till 30 June. With a promise of a share in millions we can recruit a side before the end of June .. get in the finals and blitz ‘em!! Meantime the current seniors can also be promised a payment and win the seconds while the current seconds will also share whether they play/train or not!!

Makes sense Sam Kekovich .. eh?

What a load of crap is betting on the last placed league after the inter-league weekend.

.. I’m hungry – might now bbq one of Sam’s Lamb Chops!!

May 7 JC.. You lasted 23 days without posting! Solid effort, that.

I see your point mate; very embarrassing that the KDL sits last from 32. I was reading over the placings of the leagues and not sure how accurate the system is.

Still, think a fair few that represented the KDL on Sat would be paid players, that you so detest, but while clubs have money and want to win they'll be a part of country footy.

Still don't think may KDL clubs will disappear in the short term and have done an amazing job to stay alive this long.

The rankings will sort itself out over the next 4 or 5 years, but it dumbfounds me that the O&K and Picola NW were rated ahead of the Picola SE and KDL ( and not just a spot or two ahead, I think there was 6 leagues between them).

unlike JC to post about regional league players being paid...

just think, imagine if these paid players didn't come back, how bad would the league be then???

in the Picola League, Shepp East have been the dominant team over the past few years and contain a large amount of ex-KDL footballers... would our league be better off with these players? are they there because of money or 'love of the game'? If KD clubs don't pay, the better players will go and you will only be supporting mediocrity.

on another note, if Collingwood can get $10mil for new training facilities, what about grass roots footy?????

IIRC , the last to join starts at the bottom of rankings.
Assume O&K and PDFL decided to join the championships early and the KDFL and the PDFL's second side where the last to committ ?

VCFL stated that the geographics came into play with who played who as to the leagues that joined this year, not sure if they took into account a week here or there as to which leagues decided first!!, especially when the Picola League committed one side at first (not NW, combined) and then decided to have two seperate sides after the VCFL pushed for that, clutching at straws with that assumption I think Roar!
If the PDFL's second side was the last to committ then why didnt the better league of the two get rated higher?

Maybe the better PDFL league did. Most recent match ups that i know of in preseason matches this year had deni rovers beat katandra comfortably and blighty came within a point of the highly fancied shepp east. So average that out and NW comes out on top.
Granted if it went on talk SE would win by a mile but lets stick to at least looking at some results hey not just assumptions.

The argument could be made that the SE teams lower on the ladder are a lot more competitive than their NW counterparts though. I would rate the SE higher than the NW, but that's one man's opinion.
