Re: Kyabram District FL

Heard today that Rob Bennett from YCW in the Loddon Valley League has signed at Stanhope, can anybody from Stanhope confirm this?

Good get for Stanhope, seems they're not looking to slip at all.

Robbie Bennett was a bloody good mid/hff type with North Bendigo in the HDFL when they were strong before heading out to the LVFL the past couple of years. Wont battle to get a touch in the KDFL at all :thumbsu:

Re: Kyabram District FL

Played with him the last two years at yc. I rate him very highly, great player wheather onball or half back, hard at it and uses ball well also really high fitness level. He was a really good leader around the club and fantastic club person along with his wife and young family. I know all at yc are very disappointed at losing him.

He played at North Bendigo before coming to yc, I think he won 3 or 4 B&F's there. (Should of won ours in 2006, my opinion finished 3rd). Speaking to people from north they are disappointed that he is not returning to them next year.

So as you can tell I rate him very highly and he will only strengthen a already strong Stanhope side:thumbsu:.
how do you think his hand will come up?

Re: Kyabram District FL

surgery 2 weeks ago, has pin inserted to his finger.

So he finally got the little finger fixed up!! I couldn't stand looking at it!
Did it in the first practice match this year and played the rest of the year and didn't worry him so I would say it would be fine.
Does anybody know if anybody is going with him? I know alot of the senior players at yc wanted him to be approached about coaching yc this year.

Re: Kyabram District FL

can any one tell me from this early on in the pre season who the possible big movers will be next year either up or down the ladder??
IMO
From all reports sounds like Rushy have hit a bit of a snag this early on. Lost most their core players from last year. Undera will improve again with some extra pickups and Lancaster will improve with their good recruits. Stanhope will still be the team to beat. Word is that VT will lose a couple of quality players but may pick up others. Not sure about Ardy, since their PC's have been confiscated and returned to the school, they havent been able to drop a post.

Decline: Rushworth, Gig, Tally, VT?
Improvers: Undera, Lancaster, Murchison
Finals competitors: Stan, Ardy, VT, Ave, Lanc, Undera, Tally.
No Finals: Rushy, Gig, Merrigum, Murch

Who cares, he's nothin but a sniper anyway. To slow just uses dirty tactics to get the ball.

Re: Kyabram District FL

Haha, don't u love it when u leave your computer on at work and one of your work collegues comes along and changes your post!!!

As for the previous post, FoR is just a little annoyed that he has more classes to teach today, as i have none.

I know Lancy have picked up Burnett, Finn and Hunter from Ky Trouser Snake and these blokes will go well (Finn will dominate) but have they added to the list or just replaced what Lancy have lost? Are there any other recruits on the agenda? If Lancy are to give the flag a tilt, which a few posters have been saying, then they will need to retain everyone from last year and ADD recruits to it. What are Andrew Thomas, Mick Pell, Steve Cail up to - all were rumoured to be retiring/moving on after last year. 3 blokes with some height that would be hard to replace i'd reckon.

Cail would be unlikely but the others are ruomoured to be going on again. Troy Mitchell is a good chance as is Mick Parella. Mitchell brings 100 goals minimum and with Finn and Burnett in the middle you can bet that he will see plenty of the ball deep in the forward line. Not sure about winning the flag but they will have enough match winners to be there abouts.

So what no one give Nagambie a chance next season...Some big pickups already

Improvers: Undera, Lancaster, Murchison
Finals contenders*: Stan, Ardy, VT, Ave, Lanc, Undera, Tally, Naggers
No Finals: Rushy, Gig, Merrigum, Murch

*Will depend on the draw for some of these sides. I would expect ladder positions from 3rd to 8th to be very tight indeed.

Re: Kyabram District FL

Just wondering what the numbers were like at Stanhope training last night?
Where there many new faces?

avenel would be the team i would think would push further up the ladder. young side and from all reports a couple more being added to the list. thought vt would have slide down the ladder when trotter decided not to coach but im sure they will be ok now hes coaching again. lancy have added 4 or 5 recruits and from all reports there is a couple more coming from ky. a tall in the mix and an on baller. should further strengthen there on ball but they are coming from 8th so its hard to tell how they are going to go. merrigum is a worry, have they got a coach yet? worrying times if they havent.

Re: Kyabram District FL

I have heard that too about rushy. not sure if it is true or not, but got a txt from a mate saying they have lost possibly a dozen of last years senior players and still no senior or seconds coach appointed? any one got anymore info or is it just rumours?

Well according to the paper, they have four committed board members, so surely they could put their eight heads together and come up with a solution!!!

Very original Trouser Snake, think that one up all by yourself?

The major concern at Rushy at the moment is no one has put their hand up for the presidents job, I think once someone puts their hand up, the rest of the committee will take care of its self. Its hard to attract a coach and any players without a president and a committee in place. It is true there are quite a few players probably leaving so it will make it pretty hard for the club to field a senior and seconds side next year, struggle this years with numbers in the 2nds.
