Could just scrap it as we currently have up to 14 points which could lead to more draws?

2 for score
1 for the other 12 categories

Plus that is a lot of categories.
Nothing wrong with having draws IMO. All part of the game.

Thanks Zim^zuM for sending invites. Are you taking on commissioner duties?

I agree with previous posts re: the scoring settings. I think we've toggled with them too much, the onsite rankings are wild.

I'm very much a traditionalist with scoring options and love being able to follow along as games transpire. That's why I'm pro AFL Fantasy rather than SuperCoach which is much more difficult to follow, and quite frankly a bit of a wank.

Whilst I am ok changing the scoring slightly, I think that we've gone way too far and would be supportive of a rethink.

Captains are a definite no for me.

I prefer no captains but I don’t really mind what we do. I think we are setting up a really interesting league.

I do think people are reading into player rankings to much. But if y’all want to draft Thilthorp and Harris Andrews because they are ranked higher then Daicos I’m really excited for the team I’ll get to build.

That's the thing though - they're ranked higher because they're more valuable with the settings we select.

The more you mess around with settings, the more distorted reality becomes. A good team on paper (and in 99% of leagues) may be dog shit in this league despite looking great.

I agree that we have a few cats too many its hard to follow the game with that many cats, but it is interesting. Who is commish of this league is it zim?

I also think changing settings so much limits who may or may not be interested in participating in the league.

We're really limiting our appeal IMO for future years when people inevitably step away from managing their teams, for whatever reason.
I don't think this is the case, we never have issues feeling vacancies in the other leagues, tho there are a lot more random cats here. I don't think it's as bad as u think bit there's some nthn cats like score assists. But I think a couple cats culled at most is best but agree that it could redone a little.

Are they though? You need a collective of those players to win that category. You still need to win more categories than your opponent. I think it's more that the formula he has set to rank these is flawed and the reality is steele and Dunkley will add to more overall stats than Treacy and will still be more valuable.

Though we don't have to go too ******* over the top either. Have a play with what you think the scores should be. Tbh i havent even looked what they are. I gave everyone admin.

The site basically runs itself. I gave everyone admin power. Lucky we started it now because we have time to fine tune the scoring and see its effects .

As a collective we make decisions

What do u think the scoring should be. Maybe we should do a poll and see what everyone thinks

Perhaps something like this...

The traditional categories of kicks, hbs, marks tackles, ho worth 2 points. Score 2 or 3 points.

Then tinker with replacing % FF FA with 2 or 3 other cats and have them at 1 point. Or keep % and only replace the free stats.

Or make them all 30, 20 and 10 instead of 1.

Fantasy draft format is booming, there will always be a level of interest. I am not surprised that vacancies in the other leagues are easy to fill.

The more you change though, the more barriers to entry you create, and the less likely it is people will be interested. That's just my thoughts, whether it's correct or not only time will tell but I do have concerns.

Are we doing categories? That changes things slightly, I was under the impression that we're simply adding more stats in which players can score points.

Category based leagues are different because you can punt certain categories.

I'm a simple man who likes simple things, so my preference would be to go with traditional AFL fantasy scoring.

But if we're doing categories, I'd go with 9 categories only, each worth the same value. I don't like weighting, and you have to have an even number of categories unless you want to have draws.

In category leagues I've done over the past few years, we've had

Kicks
Handballs
Marks
Tackles
Hitouts
FF
FA
Score
Score Accuracy

I don't particularly like the accuracy category but it does get us to an odd number, and it's probably the best of the non-standard categories to include.

Yeah category scoring. We are all huge fans of categories. If I was to change to points based I wouldn't be surprised if 12 of us dropped out
