Cut her some slack, jeez. Its good to have a change IMO. Better than Huddo and Christian and Walls and co. Doing alright I think considering she would never have played the game at any significant level.

This is worse than Dwayne Russell. Never thought I'd say that.

She's obviously been given a directive to just call the play-by-play, to try and placate those viewers who assume woman=no idea lol. Her commentating is fine, but her voice.
 
Well said, flight. I've found her pretty competent so far. It's unusual to hear a female voice and I'll concede that it will take some getting used to, listening to a commentator whose voice doesn't drop a couple of octaves when banging home a particularly good goal. I'm giving her the benefit of the doubt, personally.

Haha yeah she feigns a bit of excitement when a goal is kicked.

She seems to know the game quite well, but as someone else said she doesn't offer much insight, but that is probably to be expected. Richo and Darcy are there to provide more in-depth comments as they clearly know the the workings of the game (zones, game plans etc).

I don't mind her commentating though, she actually calls the game well, but her voice is undoubtedly pretty grating.
What's her story anyway? I'd interested to hear how she fell into football and how much of a fan she actually is.

And for that matter is this the first game a female has commentated?

Nope Mathew Lloyd commentates also for ten and she has previously called a game in Adelaide I think it was

Geelong - Adelaide, but that was a preseason match, this is the first regular season match called by a female. She is down to commentate Geelong's next two games as well. No idea why she is being foisted on Geelong matches.

She is a play-by-play commentator and is calling the game without the need for insight because that is her job. Leave the comments to the experts. She is doing well and knows the players names, calls it as it is, etc. and is doing everything a good commentator does.........except..........I CAN'T STAND HER VOICE!!!!!!!:p:p:p

Seriously though if I get used to her chalkboard fingernails style of commentary I think she could do well. But it will take some time I think.
 
I'm going to call bs on the people saying that "I'm not sexist but..."

I'd bet anything that the people on here who find Underwood "annoying" could get your favourite commentator's knowledge and have it being articulated by your favourite woman in the world's voice and you'd still find it weird and "annoying", because it's not a man's voice. It's not the norm. Maybe in three years it will be. Having women in the commentary box doesn't really faze me one way or the other, but I think she's doing a reasonable job.
 
Kellie is proof that women have no business commentating AFL games, it just doesn't sound right.

agreed. It sounds really odd and takes a while to get used to. She's calling the game alright, she just lacks the expression and excitement in her voice, it's a bit monotone. But good on her. Does anyone know why she's commentating?

She sounds like the Netball commentator from OneHD.
