Gabba, Brisbane
6:45pm Friday January 9

The battle of the cellar dwellers - the two sides yet to play in a final of this tournament. Last year SA got their only point thanks to the weather in Brisbane, that looks an unlikely result this year. Top spot is out of reach of both teams but both sides are a chance to host the prelim if they win both their remaining games and a near certainty to play in it, lose either and the Bulls are gone, the Redbacks need the other three games to go their way. The Bulls finish off against the Warriors in Perth while the Redbacks head across Bass Strait.

The national selectors haven't been kind to the Bulls, taking James Hopes and Ryan Harris out of this game. Ryan Broad is the new player with Matthew Hayden unavailable, but returning Batticciotto to the top to partner Townsend and recalling Philipson seems more likely. With 8 overs needing to be bowled Ben Cutting seems certain to get a recall.

The Redbacks had Shaun Tait for a game but that's the last they'll see of him as he rejoins the national side. Gary Putland is also out due to injury, which team that benefits more is debatable. All rounder Matthew Weeks comes in to add to his 2 wickets at a cost of 230 in the other forms of the game, along with 17 year old quick Kane Richardson who has been picked ahead of fellow youngish quicks Peter George and Jake Haberfield who have debuted in the Shield and one day competitions respectively this year. Aaron O'Brien may also return to strengthen a tail that gave nothing against the Blues.

Despite both sides being at the bottom of the table, i think this'll be a great game to watch.

Some youngsters in both squads, which is great to see.

Kane Richardson is an interesting one.
He's not even 18 yet (i think), is a good talent but there are issues around about his father, who apparently has a bit of 'Damir' about him.
I hope he gets a game tonight.

Going to the game. South Australia look to strong a lineup for mine. Hopefully Queensland can pull through and keep their chances of a final alive. Losing Hope and Harris is really going to effect us. A lot is resting on how Carseldine bats this match. :thumbsu:

O'Brien or Cullen to miss out for the Redbacks? They never seem to like playing spinners at the Gabba.

I don't understand why Matthew Weeks was included in the squad. Jake Brown was 12th man for the first two matches, and now isn't even in the squad. And is Mark Cosgrove ever going to get a chance?

Heard Cosgrove scored 70 off 30 balls in a trial match of T20..

Catches win Matches !!!

Not a great debut for Richardson.Dropped a simple catch [Reardon was 2 and went on to make 46],fumble on the boundary and gave away 4 and went for 34 in 3 overs.

Manure yet again stuffed up.How the hell did he only bowl Tanveer for only 3 overs ? He should been bought back in when Reardon and Carsledine were going nuts.Yet again Manure gave away a dumb bye by throwing the ball at the stumps when there was no need.He did it against the Vics and it cost him a run or two.

Just got back from the match. Carseldine makes another good score and Queensland win :thumbsu:. Gonna follow cotchin by saying Carseldine is a gun. Reardon hit so many sixes i lost count :D. WA are next and we still have a chance to make finals
