Has anyone else heard about how the knicks are building for the future? I have heard rumours that now after aquiring Steve Francis, the knicks are hoping to make room in their salary to make an attempt to gain all-star PF, Kevin Garnett.

Has anyone heard anymore on this?

So are they looking to con one team into taking all the ball hogs Zeke has brought in or do they think they can fool a few teams into taking 1 each?

If they want KG, if he even leave the Wolves, they'll lose at least 1 of their talented youngsters and simply have to build around Garnett (similar to the Wolves I guess).

Not sure what to think of them, probably have a completely different team by the start of next season though.

The Knicks will never be a good team until Thomas is removed from office. And even then, it will take years to recover.

The big problem with him is he has given the team no clear direction. At the start of the year its a youth movement but then vets like Rose, Francis are acquired. The youth movement is totally compromised (in the short to medium term at least) by the trading away of picks to acquire Eddy Curry.

Their payroll is quite astonishing, with Thomas seeming to have no real plan to try and get anywhere near the cap any time soon. And most of the cap is eaten up by players who all do the same thing (shoot first guards).

It just seems like he is playing a fantasy or computer game, swinging trades hoping something will stick. I wouldn't put it past him to trade Frye by the time he is done.

Have you actually seen their payroll??????

It would take a decade to clear out those contracts and by then KG will probably be a analyst on ESPN

My immediate thoughts following the Steve Francis deal were that Isiah was going to try and make this (or similar deal) in the off-season:

Stephon Marbury, Channing Frye and throw-in (say David Lee or Nate Robinson) for KG

I mean, if Minnesota were to rebuild Frye wouldn't be a terrible start, not optimum but not bad. It probably wouldn't even be the best deal Minnesota receive, but all I'm saying is that Zeke would probably dish up something like that.

If you look at New York, should it happen... they would still have

Francis
Richardson
Rose
Garnett
Curry

It's pretty widely thought that Kevin Garnett, due his selflessness, could probably work with a ball-dominator like Stevie Knicks.

Complete speculation, but food for thought.

Either way if the Knicks are trying to accquire a Franchise player with 100% confidence Channing Frye will be involved and Isah has already stated he wont trade him...

And salary cap issues I cant see it happening..

but can u think of if they threw garnett into that team to try to get at least 1 championship under the belts of the upcomers like Frye and how that would be a major confidence booster and good for upcoming rookies wanting to go somewhere that will be successful. This trade would be good for New York in the long run!!

Isiah has killed the Knicks. We don't even have a draft pick as compensation for his ******ed moves. Most useless GM in sports history.

the knicks won 6 on the trot to start 2006 beating teams like the mavs/suns/cavs etc! they did this with the same starting lineup Curry/Nate/Steph/Lee and Crawf! then they lost 2 in a row and brown F*ked around with the lineup again and won 2 or 3 from there next 25! why wouldnt brown have stuck with this young promising line up for the rest of the yr?!?! theres no doubt in my mind that this core lineup would have won more than 3 games in the same period, and wouldve given valuable experience to frye/lee/ and robinson. as it turns out, the knicks still stink more than eva as much as it pains me to say!
