Sounds like ROK is pretty excited bout tippett maybe joining the club does not seem to care bout the money side of things to.U could count on most off the boys thinking the same i would think just need to get him there know still a long way to go i guess not knowing if lions suns and GWS are still keen

Our players don't only play for the money. Tippett will come to us. The big offer is purely to scare off the other clubs to get him where he wants to be. Sheedy would never commit to paying that amount of money to a Tippett because it would severely jeopardise their chances of signing on their young stars in the next few years. Most of them have been on 2 year contracts which would have ended this year. Their salaries will have to go up across the board in order to keep these guys.
Toby Green, for instance would come across to the Swans to play with his mate Tom Mitchell in a heartbeat should we not get Tippett.
He would then be able to get double what he is getting at GWS because they can't go up that much with every player.

So if he came to the starless Swans, he'll clean up.

As for what Rhino said in that interview, it backs up exactly what I have heard, about how the players feel on the recruiting of Tippett.

He wants us. They want him. The coaches want him. Most of our supporters want him. No brainer..................go get him....................throw the kitchen sink at him.

As for other teams' supporters, they can shove their assumptions up their a.ses!!

Go Bloods!

Interesting article that notes retention is already a concern for GWS, for all those preaching doomsday for the swans if we take KT and the reported contract, how are the young brigade of GWS going to feel about being asked to accept deals at "below market value" when KT waltz's in takes $800k/year and actually doesn't want to be there ....

GREATER WESTERN Sydney faces important battles on two fronts as it enters its second season in the AFL.

The first is player retention. The second is to become more competitive.

On the first front, the Giants would seem to be well placed.

Jeremy Cameron, Toby Greene, Devon Smith, Tim Golds, Tim Mohr, Jacob Townsend, Adam Treloar, Dylan Shiel, Tomas Bugg, Adam Kennedy, Adam Tomlinson and Matthew Buntine are among those who signed new agreements with the club last year and are committed to the Giants either to the end of 2014 and 2015.

The club's focus will be to add to that list over the next few months.

"We're like every other club - we want to retain our best players," Giants list manager Stephen Silvagni told AFL.com.au.

A key selling point to the players will be to emulate the Geelong model of the last few years, with a number of key players accepting new deals at below market rates in order to keep the list intact and remain in premiership contention.

"You back your club in," Silvagni added.

So they want all their young players to be on reduced wages that don't match their output or potential but they want to pay a guy who wants nothing to do with them 3.5mil over 4 years?

Good luck to them on trying to re-sign Patton.

Rabble.

Sheedy has the chance to build the next Brisbane lions...but only if he's patient, and only if he's preapred to bring all the players through carefully. He should remember how that team was a grassroots up production where drafted players were retained and turned into champions.

Tippett simply doesn't fit the bill. Why would Sheedy be so keen smash his careful list management plans in the fireplace like a discarded chanmpagne glass after a one night stand? I'm beginning to think he's too tired and lacking in patience to see the "new dawn" out West. Maybe he thinks with Tippett he can fluke an 8th spot on the ladder and a 90 point elimination final loss before he retires?

I doubt Sheedy has anything to do with their list management, the guy is nothing more than a carnival barker, only there to talk to the media and schmooze with sponsors during long lunches.

And here is a little bit more for those doomsday protagonist to what the swans players actually think ...

Many in the AFL believe this is way over the odds for his playing talent but it's what Tippett can offer to his teammates which has O'Keefe excited about the prospect of playing alongside the big man.
"He'll help the development of a guy like Sam Reid," Tippett said. "Sam will draw confidence that he's got another big body there and you've got Goodsey there as well who will benefit."
Should Tippett end up wearing the red and white, O'Keefe says all that will be asked is for him to play the role assigned him by John Longmire.
"We're not expecting him to come here and be best on ground," O'Keefe said.
"He doesn't have to come here and be best on ground. He doesn't have to play the game of his life every week.
"He just has to come here and play a role that's the way we play it."

Gotta love Rhino, easing the pressure on Tippett already...:thumbsu:

I think the AFL have not allowed Adelaide to delist him so he is still on their playing list right now.

So he could make a legal argument that this decision is detrimental to his football and/or his future earnings if not allowed to train.

I'm thinking the two parties might have decided it was mutually beneficial for Tippett not to attend the Crows pre-season training. :)
There is a difference between being a contracted player and a registered player with a club. Tippett is no longer contracted by the crows, that stopped on the 31 October I think. However he is however still a registered crows player and the afl are stopping the crows from delisting him.

This has been done so that he can't move as a free agent and forces him into the PSD.

So you think Tippett is worth more than the reported 3.5 million over 4 years?

You know, he just might be. He has an enourmas ceiling. Contested marking, ruck work, leading deep forward, simplyba player that contests. Seriously, if we ignore the concussions, this is a super Player. If you end up with him having given up nothing, then you have done very well. I just want trigg to get the arse. Really don't care about much else.

He has definitely shown he is capable of being the player worthy of the contract but my concern is if he can do it consistently. He can spray a kick with the best of them too.
I agree with you, Trigg should have been shown the door as a sign of goodwill stuff throwing away picks.
Awesome dog by the way, Aussie or American bulldog?

How is melcho's face in this picture?

Crazy pumped!

Looks like we're interested in drafting Tippetts brother Joel as well.

It doesn't surprise me, We have been interested in him for a little while now, Plus he was very very impressive in the SANFL this year.

How does the rookie system work does joel go into the Psd or can he just walk to us

You have the Pre-season draft first, Then after teams have taken their picks in the rookie draft begins.

We will be pick 18 in the rookie draft, So another team could take Joel first.
