Oh dear. Ardmona cannot possibly continue can they?

It's so sad but the tough call needed to be made prior to the season. What are sides like Nagambie and Stanhope going to do? I've played in very poor sides but this is a tragedy...this is not a pot shot at those who took the field today...they have my respect...but it cannot go on

I think Under 17/18 and Reserves floggings by 30 goals to nought are character building for those on the wrong end and have been common throughout footy. But 54 goals to nought in a senior competition is horrible. I feel terrible for the poor buggers who played for Ardmona today.

I'm well and truly finished as a footballer but will put this out there..if they have a game next week..I will come and play for them alongside those blokes

Absolutely admirable Roota but it won't change the general malaise that the almighty AFL will not address, kids are not progressing from Auskick to play as teenagers and beyond. We have a fantastic game, one that encourages any number of social interaction skills that are quickly falling by the wayside (learn to take a bump, respect an opponent, contest within the rules and spirit of the game, lose (sometimes by huge margins), win with humility etc, etc, etc. You should see the emphasis that the AFL has in putting GWS and Sydney players around the leagues in NSW during the season. Victoria and Tasmania are fodder because participation is taken for granted.

Ardmona have fielded thirds for the first two rounds, if they fall over then where do these kids go? Time for Gill to do a tour and see what is happening here and wherever our game is played.

It won't change a thing but just feel for those blokes...it's not their fault. I wouldn't get a kick but if they are willing to front up then so will I
