What were they reported / suspended for ?

Seems to be a lot more reports this year. Umpires getting abit card happy?
Not 100% sure on Brandon's & James incidents, from what I'm told they we're both just late to a marking contest?

O'Rielly's was in our game & he was abit unlucky in my opinion! 1 of our boys took a mark & went to play on in centre of the ground which was very hard & slippery, as he took a step he seen Knackers coming at him so went to sidestep him & slipped on the centre, at the same time Knackers went to give him a bump all legal but because of the slip got him high! It was just 1 of those unfortunate series of incidents that all lined up at the wrong time! But I think the reprimand was a fair outcome as it shouldn't have been any game's missed.

I think more and more clubs will start filming games especially in the month before finals.
Some of the suspensions/reprimands I have seen over the last 2 years would get off with footage in a tribunal setting.
This can also work in the reverse though. Will Holt playing for Wedderburn v Boort a couple of years ago not reported on the day got 3 weeks off the video.

I saw the Avola incident and same sort of thing 2 players went for the ball Avola seen him and tried to push him off the ball but made contact and accidentally made high contact and umpire reported him.
No malice at all and was a complete accident, no Rushy boys remonstrated but umpire reported him, even heard that second umpire didn’t think it was a reportable offence.
But that’s the way the KDFL is going at the moment.

Kdfl or Gvfua ? I watched a game recently and from the frequency of changing decisions with hand to ear , it would be easy to assume the bloke in the grandstand was often overruling via the ear piece.

Only some KDFL game's have had the overseeing umpire in the earpiece! It's generally used for GVFL & MFL! We had it in 1 of our games when there was a split round in the GV! I believe there's only half a dozen of those units! So not all games get them..... But agree there may be some decisions getting changed at the time due to this technology!

Definitely wasn’t a great deal in it. Both went to pick up a loose ball, Avola turned side on as Matt Caton was picking up the ball and went in a bit lower than Avola and Avola accidentally hit him in the face with his elbow. Was a free kick at best, stiff to get a week. Never took his eyes off the ball

Has it got to that in grassroots football?
A third (or fourth) umpire playing God in the grandstand telling his puppets what to do?

Hopefully the off-field person has a clue about the game.
Thought this crap only happened in international cricket.
I’m not aware whether the umpires with communication is just for overturning calls. We had one last year at Merrigum and in the rooms at the half time break he was giving feedback to the central umpire. So I’m going to guess a lot of it is meant for coaching inexperienced umpires, not just overturning/overruling. Just a hunch.

Seems like a classic case of the age-old scenario....star players either get targeted by umps or looked after like a relative 🤔.

Whispers Barry Hall will be lacing the boots up for Swans on premiership reunion day vs Merrigum . Ex Avenel junior and in u18s team of century.

The big fella would still dominate 👍🏻
