Take that, Gargamel.

I don't understand, if we picked this guy up to replace Brown, couldn't Shiels have done that ?
We have a team full 180+cm players, we are a very very short team.
And if the Club has its mind set on developing Shoey into that Gorilla then just play him in that spot for the whole year and stop stuffing our kids up with all these different roles and then not play them any more because they cant play these different roles..
What i want to see in 2010 is for our forwards to play forward, our backs to play back, our mids to play in the midfield, our ruck's to play in the ruck...

THIS!!! :thumbsu:

everyone's post ive red in the thread so far is making it sounds like pick 60od was ment to be the saviour player we pick up. its pick 60 od people and the hawks premiership window aint closing but its not getting any biggers. things have to be done now. no pick 60od from this years draft will be making an impact in our team anytime soon. his just a top up player just incase a few go down. one thing i have really been happy with is that the hawks have been trading and drafting on a needs basis since clarko took over and the rebuild started (same time as richmond mind you). yeh his no A grade pick up like we have been use to since hodgey buddy mitch rioli. we have been so blessed and lucky to have pelchen and his men doing there thing around this time of the year and nothing as yet has been a massive disapointment. so back in the blokes who got us the flag in 08 and a few diamonds in the rough like stewie dew, stratton and the big fish like silk and give the kid a go.
Kyle "FETTA" Cheney

Fetta is hard at it. Great overhead mark for his size and is dedicated/professional.
The reason he struggled to get a regular game at Melbourne is a perceived lack of speed and the fact that Bartram was doing some good shut-down roles down back.
He'll do well at the Hawks.

I like this pickup. Doesnt cost us the world, and we add a genuine defender. I had him in my Dreamteam a couple of years back, so watched him pretty closely - doesnt have a lot of toe about him, but is a no nonsense type defender. Might not play a lot of games next year, but its always good to have quality depth.

FFS Get a hand off it people. At pick 54 he is better than nothing. BTW did we need a ceratin Stephen Gilham who could not get a game at Port. So for those that say because he can't get a game at Melbourne i will say he didn't have opportunities at Melbourne.

Is this not what Sydney does...takes fringe players from other clubs and gives them a chance.

So we all wanted a superstar at pick 54 boo hoo it doesn't happen that often..all picks at this range are speculative at best.

If Cheney is a genuine stopper who is hard at it is he a challenger for Tom Murphy's role? I can't see who else he might replace - and I don't see it as likely that he would force Smurphy out.

Worst case - we have a hard nut as a depth player I guess.

He showed a bit in 2009. Hawks have stated that this is 12 months in the making having spoken to Melbourne about him during the trade period last year.

Welcome to the HFC. I hope you can be part of our next Premiership..
Hopefully Kyle turns out like Sydney McGlynn or Kennedy.

He could.

His strengths. Great overhead. Plays taller then he is. Solid skills. Reads it beautifully. Tough as.

But he doesn't play tight enough for mine. Wonderful third zoning defender because he can read it well but can lose his man when asked to play tight. Not overly quick but being super slow is over exaggerated.

Sounds like the attributes of a forward and similiar to Osborne who started back, maybe we're thinking of playing him across hf.
