He's scared of catching the case of the uglies.
Yeah he really sidestepped that land mine. :p

I reckon they are fine....

Sorry for doing something different..... why cant he wear the orange boots??

This is exactly what the AFL needs, a couple of players with bigger personalities..... ala American Sports!!

I'm kinda surprised its been brought up as an issue so many times. I'm betting that he won't be wearing them next week as a result but honestly i think that there are far more critical and pressing issues at Essendon than the colour of a player's boots.

exactly
and i'd have thought anyone watching recent essendon games would've noted reimers as being one of the harder blokes in the team
he's still raw but at least he has a crack
maybe the rest of the bombers should follow his lead, get some flashy boots and have a serious go

Dennis had a classic call tonight when Reimers got the pill... Something along the lines of:

"Reimers has discovered another use for the witches hats..."

He used that exact same line last week.

Good to see Dennis is now recycling his lines on a weekly basis.

I love how he has this ability to appeal to the younger audience though by comparing tackles to WWE finishing moves and talking about No Country For Old Men ect.
Best commentator in sport imo.

I agree mate :) People are just looking for a winge as usual!
The kid smashed Dale Thomas like a guitar! He can wear what he wants! <3

Got a bit of talent, the boy

I was at the game and I must say that he'll need more strings to his bow than he showed tonight if he's to survive at AFL level.
He's an absolute seagull. Runs around without an opponent getting cheap kicks. Stood 10m off the pack at all times by himself.
Won't get away with that for too long. Coaches will begin to pay him more respect, as he gets more confident at AFL level and becomes more damaging.

Will be interesting to see if he can adapt, as many of these types of players who look the goods early on never make it anywhere.

Not afraid to get stuck into blokes off the ball, with a bit of nudging etc, but did very little of the inside stuff tonight.

Many of Essendon's youngsters impressed me tonight (Myers was excellent, Houli continued on strongly, Nash and Winderlich are both finally looking very comfortable out there), but I don't like what I see in orange boots boy.

He had 18 possessions and hit targets all night. Can't really expect much more than that from an 18 year old.

Perhaps, just not convinced that he'll make it once he has an opponent to play on. You can tell that Myers, Houli etc will be 150+ gamers. Not at all convinced about Reimers, despite a statistically good game. From where I was sitting at the ground, I don't like the look of him.

On Reimers, I rate the kid, moves well when he has the pill and seems to hit targets the majority of the time.

But who ever mentioned he stands a free metres off the pack and waits for a loose ball is spot on. In the centre square tonight he was seagulling something cronic.

Was good though, regardless.

Andrew McLeod has far better balance, disposal, legspeed and skills than Reimers, and always has. It was evident early on that he would be a top notch player.

I'm not suggesting there is no place in football for outside players. McLeod is one, and is a brilliant player.

I'm suggesting they need to have more strings to their bow than Reimers to survive at AFL level.

I think this is what makes me laugh the most.

I'll let you think about this

I'm not shirking the issue.
I maintain that he's a seagull, who runs around with nobody on him at this stage, and looks like he'll struggle once opposition coaches pay him respect.
McLeod is an outside player, but he still generally has an opponent, and is often tagged. The majority of the time he's able to overcome this. From what I've seen, I'm not sure Reimers will be able to.

I will conceed, however, that it's a very big call to make on a player in his first season. As I said, it will be interesting to see whether his future performances prove me wrong or not.
