Who is Bergman going to replace in Melbournes best 22?I think the Rankine trade is a good comparison. Pickett has achieved more than him in that time so can’t me worth any less than that.
If Bergman is part of the deal then Port would have to add a first round pick of some sort
Bergman probably worth around pick 20 at the moment, throw him in with a future first and that’s fairly close I think.
Don't turn into danster. He's not going to the Hawks, if for some unknown reason he does they will give up pick 1

Bergman won't be kicking 30 goals.Pickett
NoBergman won't be kicking 50 goals.
He's not worth Pick 1 in terms of the current trading climate. Pick 1 carries its own level of excitement and marketing/membership perks etc. But in reality, the odds that pick 1 will actually end up better than Pickett though is probably 20%? (Gibbs, Watts, Scully, Kreuzer, Swallow, Patton, Boyd, McCartin, Andy Mcgrath, Rayner, Rowell, Ugle-Hagan etc.). If melbourne was offered pick 1 for Pickett if he was in contract and happy to stay, would we take it? Of course not. People generally overrate the draft imo. I would give up 2 top 10 picks for most proven young guns in the comp but the out of contract nature of deals throws true value out the window. And melbourne won't get value for Pickett.Umm, are some people seriously suggesting Pickett's worth 2x top 10 picks/pick 1?
Gee whiz...
Same for Jackson - but his loss has not hurt you at all. I would prefer Pickett to Jackson. He's not worth Pick 1 in terms of the current trading climate. Well yeah but we're only 1 round into the season. Jackson may hurt us from 2026-2030. Losing Jackson wasn't going to hurt us in the short term when we had Grundy. It'll hurt post Gawn/Grundy. There's no replacements for Pickett.Same for Jackson - but his loss has not hurt you at all. I would prefer Pickett to Jackson.
Yep..people forget who the best small forward in the comp is and without doubt its toby greenePickett better than Toby? Nah.

I dont disagree. injuries are an unfortunate reality to the game. There's 12 years worth of pick 1's that I listed though and pickett has already reached a higher ceiling than all of them in only a few seasons. The only reason Rowell has not lived to expectations as a number 1 pick is because of cruel and unlucky run of injuries.
Was 100 % still the correct decision by the Suns to pick him at 1.
Cameron & Stengle? Both out performed Kosi last year.Pickett is irreplaceable and is the best small forward we've seen since Betts. He will play midfield later on too. You'd have to imagine he's worth a top 10 pick at a minimum if he does leave.
I forgot about Stengle, though he is 3 years older than Kysaiah.Cameron & Stengle? Both out performed Kosi last year.
Even if he isn’t better than those guys just yet, he is tracking that way at the momentCameron & Stengle? Both out performed Kosi last year.
Pickett's good but if it was this year, I'd imagine the overwhelming consensus from recruiters would be that you'd be insane to give up Harley Reid for Pickett. He's not worth Pick 1 in terms of the current trading climate. Goals aren’t everything, but Papley has kicked 40 goals once in his careerPapley is comfortably the best small forward in the competition.
You can say that about a lot of playersHe's not worth Pick 1 in terms of the current trading climate. U what? Papley is great, and definitely gets less attention being a Swan, but big brain supporters really, really overrate them as a way to say “see, I watch everyone”. Same as Mills. Awesome player, top 50 comfortably. Top 15, as some put him? No way.Papley is comfortably the best small forward in the competition.
Ergo proving that pick 1’s main appeal is the freedom to select whoever you want. The fact most pick 1’s don’t justify their position is very important though. You can say that about a lot of players
Past number 1 duds doesn’t equate to young guns worth future pick ones
