Pickett's good but if it was this year, I'd imagine the overwhelming consensus from recruiters would be that you'd be insane to give up Harley Reid for Pickett.

Melbourne would jump through hoops to trade Pickett and get pick 1, if it was offered.
I do agree. Harley Reid does look like a beast. Melbourne certainly wouldn't be jumping through hoops to do the trade though. How many players can do what Pickett can do? 2 or 3? He may be more rare than what Harley can provide. I guess time will tell.

Kozzy is gone no doubt about it

He spends more time in Darwin than Melbourne which tells you enough

Port will get the deal done

I heard he lives in Darwin only returning to Melbourne to play games.
A little know fact is he actually played last weeks game from Darwin.

Is Darwin a suburb in Adelaide?

It’s not surprising that people outside of Sa don’t rate Bergman yet, but you will. He’s already a high end player at 21 with the scope to become anything.

189cm mids with his speed, strength, aerial power, kicking , tackling and running are worth their weight in gold. We swung for the fences with this pick and knocked it out of the park.

We’ve seen what rozee jhf and butters can do, each are elite young mids. Bergman is easily in the same stratosphere as these players

Port fans desperately don’t want to lose him, but it’s always a worry when players from interstate are not signed yet.

If he did leave, a team would likely have just picked up their future midfield leader.

Port will have to pay a hefty price for pickett if he comes here no doubt, but there’s massive underrating of Bergman. Right now all the vic clubs probably have Bergman at the top of their wish list.
I rate him highly, and he was on our draft radar with our first round pick in the Pickett/Weightman draft.

If the demons don't rate him, I'd be happy for the bulldogs to get involved in a trade for Pickett to Port. We've got two first rounders this year

Ergo proving that pick 1’s main appeal is the freedom to select whoever you want. The fact most pick 1’s don’t justify their position is very important though.
Not sure how much you saw of Ried at last year's carnival, but he's outstanding. I don't think I've seen a more certain pick 1. Just my opinion, but if he was allowed in to last year's draft he would have gone pick 1 as a 17 year old.

Personally, I'd flick just about anyone on the list for him. He's that good.

A lad I work with who went to school with Kozzie is suggesting that he will be at Port next season.
Still don't see how that gets done with Port's lack of picks. There would have to be a pretty good player (or two) going out the door

I read somewhere they can trade their F1
Even so, doubt that'll be sufficient, and with Port almost certainly finishing above Adelaide, the PSD threat is basically non-existent

Yeah, PSD threat isn't a thing. If ever a team was to dump someone to make a point it was Bullies last year.

I think what will happen (if he requests a trade to Port), is that a deal will get hashed out with the F1 as the centre piece. Teams can't just magically make picks appear but somehow every year we get the same nonsense as if they can. The Jackson thread was a train-wreck. Dees fans were saying they'll get 3 1st rounders.

It's bizarre.

Put this guy in at the WB, Carlton, Freo or Port and they likely contend for the flag. I think that says a lot about his value.

Small forwards don't impact as much in lower tier teams as they require their team to be competent around them but to any team in and around the 8 they are worth their weight in gold. FP, HFF and Wings imo the biggest differences between the lower 8 and top 4 over the last few years.

I am all for player movement but I will be gutted when Pickett leaves. Absolute gun and out most exciting player to watch.

I think his chance of staying is close to 0%

From all reports he doesn’t like living in Melbourne and the club can’t afford to pay what others are offering.

I love you Kozzy, please don’t go 😭

It’s just the reality of Melbournes situation. You have a lot of players on decent contracts (who are worth every cent) which is going to push good players out. The salary cap is working how it should.

The issue is it is happening in back to back years, during a flag window.

Grundy was an ok replacement for Jackson, but he ain’t the player he once was.

Zero chance of finding a 40 goal a year forward that can impact the midfield to replace Pickett.

The future generation headed by Jackson and Pickett looked bright, and would be 2 stars the team could build around when Trac and Clarry are in their twilight.

Now who do we have? Matt Jefferson? jfc

Yeah. Such as #1 draft picks bailing on their club after a year whilst still under contract to go home to mum

Oh wait…

It’s a bit rich to complain that Port is disadvantaged to the same extent as NSW and QLD clubs

Generally well run and stable clubs do not lose quality/required players to rival clubs..

Port Adelaide didn't lose fan favourite Chad Wingard, they gave him the flick because of his attitude and laziness at training which was affecting his other teammates (esp the kids)

It was a ballsy call by Ken that proved to be a master-stroke (IIRC They got Butters with the FRP the Hawks sent their way, along with Ryan Burton)
