I'm taking this chance to encourage everyone to vote in the two threads that are more important than spitballing about Neale

If you havent already please vote for the Board MVP and Post Of The year

Board MVP:

Post of the Year

You might not like to hear because you're looking for a bargain. And I don't blame you as I would doing the same. But Neale is contracted and he's a better player than what he was when he left you guys. There's a reason why the AFL media is saying he's worth two firsts, because that is his worth. I think it would be smarter if you went to the draft, but I would be happy with two of your firsts if he came to your club.

Of course you'd be happy with that, because you know he's not worth two firsts.

I stopped reading when you used the AFL media to back up your opinion. No one takes any of those clowns seriously (just in case you were wondering)

Thanks for the laughs.

Keen to hear what Duffield has to say on the matter. What time does the pod get released?

Around 3:30pm eastern time

1:30pm perth time

I can picture what he will say lachie neale is a contracted player for Brisbane and Fremantle shouldn't bend their back to bring him home.

Go back to the draft and keep nailing the draft picks

I think Neale has been a slightly better player at the Lions then at us but I attribute that entirely due to him playing there in literally the 3 best years of a footballers career while playing in a better team then the one he left.

His best is clearly behind him while he'll still be elite for another few years

He's worth what someone will pay and he's not worth more than he was 3 years ago - especially to the Fremantle list profile.

Stolen from HerrerasaurusWrecks on Reddit: "I think we still have to pretend that the 30.32 disposal per game, 7.14 clearance per game, 15.05 contested possession per game player from 2018 was a diamond in the rough that Brisbane magically turned into a 30.92 disposal per game, 7.88 clearance per game, 15.79 contested possession per game player in 2019."
He only became a better player in 2019 because people actually paid attention to him then

Where is the petition to stop the FFC from trading in Neale? I'll sign it.

I agree, this has "another Freo pathetic trade" written all over it.

If Neale had never played for Freo would we even consider this?

He not a better player, he’s the same player Bris paid to leave a contract. He was great for Freo.

The more I look at this the more I think Neale and Bris need to work this out. Freo didn’t chase him.
He left us for money. We don’t need to bend over backwards to get him back.

I’m now leaning to no first rounder from this year. We need them.
Bris can have next years first.

As soon as this dropped I floated on Bris forum that Freo would offer late first , early 2nd at best.
I haven't changed my mind.
Just don't see Bell being that bothered if it falls over - take 6, 8, 27 and probably a bit more to draft and continue the build.

How does Lachie compare to Brad Hill.

Hill going back to the Saints cost them 10,58, Future 2nd and Blake Acres.

We gave up Hill and and Future 3rd.

I have been thinking about this a lot. I don't feel I understand trading values very well because trades often stump me, but I am an analytical person who likes numbers and this is what makes sense to me.

Brisbane paid 6, 19 and 55 and got 30 and Lachie Neale back in the trade. This is the equivalent of pick 3 by draft pick values, apparently.

Brisbane headhunted Neale because they perceived he was exactly what they needed.

They probably thought they were getting a player for 6 to 8 years (his last season would have come when he was 31 to 33 yo). They probably thought his best years were highly likely in front of him with 3-4 years of his best football, which may have been better than anything seen from him at that point. All of that is probably an assessment that looks solid.

So now, he is a player with 3 to 5 years to come, with possibly 1 or 2 years of his best football in front of him.

Looking at all that, if he was assessed by a club that perceived he was exactly what they needed (as Brisbane did 3 years ago), he would look to be worth about 2/3 of his value 3 years ago, at best. This is the equivalent of pick 9 by draft pick values, apparently. (I know draft pick values are questionable, but they are what we have).

If Brisbane paid a reasonable price for him, I can't see how he could be valued far outside this assessment.

If you consider that he isn't exactly what Freo needs, he has had an injury interrupted season and his weakest year statistically since 2015 or earlier, and he is looking like a bit of a selfish twit, for me he is worth quite a lot less than pick 9 for Freo.

Good Point.
It was the same for Lachie going the ther way. Brisbane did pay a lot for him.
Yep, they headhunted a contracted player out from under his current club at the time. Brisbane were pointing at Lachie saying we want him, this time Freo are sitting back with their feet up while Lachie points at Freo and says I want to go there. Completely different situations!

I'm rooting for Brisbane to just hold him to his contract in the end. But man I really hope our club doesn't fall for it. Already have had Neale and his management contact the club and speak to Longmuir - but it shouldn't be our problem. He ****ed off to begin with. The club has changed and moved on since. Don't get baited by his partners' desperation please.

Lets MAYBE revisit this in 12 months.

Well I for one would LOVE to see Neale in a Free jumper again. Never felt right seeing him play for Brisbane.
Him and Ed Langdon I hated that they left.
No idea how it gets done so long as we still get a few forwards in this year.
