Happy to roll with AP.

Mark missed a bit by not at least talking to Belichek and Harbaugh, even to just pick their brains for the years of experience they have.

You're missing the idea that it is possible to speak with candidates outside of a formal interview setting.

AP and AOC have plenty of time now to get ready for next season.
Too many QB hungry teams ahead of us in the draft. Maybe a trade for Fields.
Rather we used first round pick on a RT.
AOC is backup only.

Daniels is the one to trade for.

Fields if the Bears draft Williams.

Go and watch the playoffs and ask if you think AOC can get anywhere near the level of the top QBs. If your conclusion is "no," then you've gotta go and get another QB.

I don't understand the Fields hype. He's not a good QB. He has some very good receivers to throw to in Mooney and Moore, yet his numbers are really bog average. And in 12 months time he'd be asking for a 40M contract. Given the cost will likely be a day 2 pick, it's just not worth it.

I'd much rather go all in on getting one of the top rookie QBs who are cost controlled for a minimum of 4 years giving the team much more cap flexibility.

If they were to go after any QB via trade I'd hope it would be Kyler Murray.

Baker Mayfield looked like trash early doors.

I’d back a good OC to get the best out of Fields.

No he didn't!

Bakers rookie season he threw for 27 TDs. In year 3 of his career he had 27 TDs and just 12 turnovers (8 picks, 4 lost fumbles) en route to an 11-5 W/L record.

Fields has shown next to nothing as a starter over his 3 years in the league to suggest he can be the guy. I'm not even convinced he would be an upgrade over O'Connell.

I just watched Lamar who you don't rate.

AOC came in mid season. Preseason he only threw to one WR who hardly played even when AOC took over.
Apart from Miller who was out injured for some games the rest of our Oline are not starter standard.

AOC may not be a top QB but I'd give him an opportunity while we bring in a quality Oline. There are good tackles available at our first pick. Looks like a quality guard also.

Who is going to give up an early pick in this draft?

There is a chance Nix or another QB slides to our pick. That may be worth it and keep AOC as backup

And all the other years has been decidedly average outside of this season.

Qb is the most important decision for this franchise, for these new coaches and FO.

Whoever it is they like, they have to sell the farm and move up ahead to get him. Problem is, so many teams are vying too, so the price is gonna be high.

But its absolutely the right decision to make, it will be the decision that either elevates the Raiders to Chiefs level dynasty, or it bombs out and they end up like the Bears (if they pick the wrong QB or if they sit where they are abd just go BPA.

The issue is the top 3 picks all look like being QB with teams desperate for one so trading up will be virtually impossible. Maybe the Commanders can be convinced to pass on one if they only want Williams and the Bears take him and are happy to accept a fortune to move down a mile, but I dont see it happening with the Bears or Pats. The price to move up to pick 2 will be thru the roof.

It might be Penix to Raiders then? Wheres Penix draft grade?

Yeah, they might have to move up a couple of spots if they really want him with the Broncos ahead of them also needing a QB. Penix's draft stock will be determined by his medical. If its bad he wont go first round, if its fine he can probably go anywhere from pick 8 with the Falcons (though I dont think they will take him that high, will probably look for a vet with Bill coming in) to ~ 24

Lamar has had his best season since 2019. On average he is only throwing 29 passes a game though. He is a true unicorn who can use his legs which make up for some of his deficiencies as a passer. Still a very good QB though. Provided Lamar doesn't turn the ball over I see the Ravens winning the Super Bowl - though that proviso is still a big one.

What is becoming more and more clear is the need for a QB to have functional mobility. AOC is a statue in the pocket, and when the play breaks down he can't create something out of nothing. The Texans did a lot right today, but when things went to sh!t Lamar went to work and made something happen. You need that in the playoffs, because defences can't scheme for that.

It's possible that both Chicago and Washington choose to trade out of their top pick. If it doesn't happen, so be it, but the Raiders should be going all out to get one of the top QBs this draft because they could be as good as any of the best in the league.

Penix "should" go late first, but demand will have him going much higher. With so many teams needing a QB at the top of the draft, I expect him to be gone before the Raiders currently pick at 13.

13. Las Vegas Raiders – J.J. McCarthy, QB, Michigan

his athleticism and arm strength will position him to be selected far earlier than some might expect based off his production. After the failed Jimmy Garoppolo move, it's time for the Raiders to make a substantial investment in a young quarterback to develop for the long term.

Raiders GM search committee is meeting today to discuss the candidates.

Very strong possibility both Dodds and Kelly lead the front office - though I would expect Dodds to have final say.

Three candidates for the Raiders OC position per Albert Breer are Shane Waldron, Kliff Kingsbury and Luke Getsy. Getsy makes me puke but the former two are very good candidates.

Agree with the OC choices.

Dodds and Kelly could be a very good pairing, I did read elsewhere that opinion is divided on the two. So insert little mexican girl gif.
