Telesco interviewed a second time today, seems as though there's still an element of Mark that's concerned with having a rookie GM and HC in the two biggest positions of power on the football side of things. Whilst I doubt Telesco gets the job, I think he may join in some high ranking capacity to provide support for a first time GM. The introductory presser with MD is going to be fascinating to understand his rationale behind it all.

Zac Robinson from the Rams interviewed today for the OC position. Dan Pitcher is interviewing tomorrow I think for the OC position as well.

Mark doesn't seem to be in a rush on the GM side of things, and given Tom Coughlin and Marvin Lewis are helping AP put together a staff, getting a GM in place isn't as mad a rush as what it may have been previously going into this process. I'll be surprised if a GM isn't sorted within the next 48 hours though.

The presser won't be fascinating as Marks logic is there for all to see - he simply didn't want to pair a first time HC with a first time GM..

Telesco wouldn't have been my first choice, but he will have a very solid understanding of the roster having been with the Chargers the last 11 years as GM, and he has a pretty good track record when it comes to building a roster. Most importantly, he's been part of organisations who have had long term stability at QB - Peyton Manning and Andrew Luck with the Colts, then Philip Rivers and now Justin Herbert with the Chargers.

I'm not concerned about his head coach choices with the Chargers because the Spanos family are notoriously cheap and the Spanos son (I think it is John) has a huge say in picking the coach there.

Some data on Telesco as a drafter. Bottom line is that he's above average at drafting successful players in Rounds 1 and 2, but pretty bad at drafting rounds 3+ (which is where you typically get your depth from) - it pretty much fits with what you see of the Chargers roster of the last few years. A number of big name players drafted early and not much around them

Well we have really struggled with 1st and 2nd round picks for a fair while. So hopefully he at least changes that.

I think hes definitely an above average drafter. Has some misses like everyone but you need to take into account some of his misses being players that never got a second contract with the Chargers but became very good players on other teams like Uchenna Nwosu, Rayshawn Jenkins, Justin Jones and Desmond King. Can easily blame the coach for that, not Telesco.

Look at the coaches developing these players - bottom of the barrell type guys imo. No surprise that the players haven't developed once drafted.

I agree. He's not an excellent drafter but will be solid, and I suspect the coaches developing these drafted players will be in a much better position in Vegas under APs staff than what they would be had Telesco drafted them in LA.

Davante Adams hasn’t given the impression that he would like to play with a rookie quarterback next year, but there does seem to be one that he might consider.

Appearing last week on the Two G’s in a Pod podcast, Adams was asked if there are any college quarterbacks that stood out to him this year.

Davante didn’t name Caleb Williams and he didn’t name Drake Maye. But he did mention LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels…

“I’m not great with college football, I don’t know [everything] that’s going on out there, but I did pay a little bit of attention to Jayden Daniels. I know he was a good tough [quarterback] and obviously he won the Heisman, so he’s a great player. That’s somebody that I think could come in and be a decent player. He’s going to have to slide a little bit more than what he was doing this year, because I saw him taking a couple of hits like 1-7 out there and his frame a little smaller than mine. I don’t know how much he can take of that…

I do think [Daniels] will be a good player. You never know, but that’s somebody I’ve seen that look like he can throw. He’s an athlete. He can kind of throw on the run, make plays with his legs and all that. That’s crucial in today’s game. You’ve got too many these dudes like Maxx chasing down the quarterback and if the quarterback can’t move around, it’s gonna be a lot sacks. Having somebody like him would be crucial for our team or for any team…”

For what it’s worth, Daniels already has a connection to the Raiders. He played for Antonio Pierce at Arizona State and has stated that he would like to be drafted by the Raiders.

**** me this would be good.

Just spent the last half hour or in the presidential suite of crown towers with Tom Brady.

First thing I told him - "it was a fumble, Tom!"
I assume he just smiled knowingly

Any discussion on current day Raiders stuff?

Nothing. Was very superficial. He carries himself like a true gentleman but he doesn't scream Alpha male QB at all. I was quite shocked. I've dealt with Kobe Bryant up close and I expected something similar with Tom, but it was the complete opposite.

Will be sure to post a few photos once they come through on my Dropbox in a few weeks.

Did you happen to ask if he's going to be approved to buy a slither of the franchise?

I wanted to, but didn't. It's quite a complex scenario. I think it is something that will be addressed publicly anyway in the next 12 months.

The Raiders wanted to interview 49ers pass game coordinator Klint Kubiak for their OC position. But they can't do that until the season finishes in 2 weeks. At the same time, the Raiders are believed to want to finalise their OC position early this week.

What this means imo is if they don't sort it out by the end of this week, I would pencil in Kubiak for the role.

Personally speaking I expect it to be Kingsbury but I know Alex Van Pelt interviewed really well. Just as long as it's not Like Getsy I think we will be ok.

Jackson Powers-Johnson
Oregon · IOL · Junior 6-3 and 334 pounds.
Powers-Johnson has experience at all three interior offensive line spots and has spent time at defensive tackle, as well. He was outstanding at the center position in 2023, and that’s where I expect him to play at the next level. He has good size, exceptional quickness and steady balance. In pass pro, he sets vertically and is able to catch and absorb versus power rushers. He does an excellent job reworking his hands to maintain position and is a nasty helper when uncovered. In the run game, he uses his upper-body power to torque/turn defenders, generating a lot of movement at the point of attack. He is quick working up to the second level and takes good angles. Overall, there aren’t many holes in his game. I love his bulldog playing style.

Powers-Johnson was terrific in the early going of the Senior bowl, stonewalling Clemson's Tyler Davis on a bull rush in one-on-ones, handling Oregon's Brandon Dorlus, his college teammate, easily in full-team work and looking surprisingly fluid for a player whose superpower is bullying D-linemen.

Powers-Johnson was dominant just about all day. He put a few guys in the ground during the one-on-one pass rushes — which typically favor the defense — and if he did lose during that period, the loses were few and far between. He was stonewalling defensive tackles all day to the point where I wouldn’t be surprised if he shuts it down for the rest of the week.
Amazingly, Powers-Johnson only has one full season at center, but he handled those duties well Tuesday, just as he did all season for the Ducks. Some NFL teams could consider him at guard, too. That flexibility could help make him a top-25 pick.

An NFC executive told ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler that Russell Wilson could be traded to the Raiders this offseason.
There’s almost no chance Wilson returns to the Broncos for a third season under center after head coach Sean Payton benched the one-time superstar QB in Week 17. The NFC executive pointed out that the Raiders were among the team’s on Wilson’s 2021 wishlist when it was clear his time in Seattle was over. The Raiders, under new head coach Antonio Pierce, will need to upgrade at quarterback this offseason after Aidan O’Connell struggled mightily as the team’s starter in the season’s second half. Wilson, who had the league’s third best completion rate over expected in 2023, would certainly be an upgrade for Davante Adams.
