Indeed, happy to take any win at this stage of the race. Well done to all who have done so.

Should have two good days left though. Tomorrow will be time to fade certain contenders as they face their biggest challenge thus far, then the time trial.

Contador getting better...

You can fade Evans in the next two stages. Reckon the Schlecks might be up for a big one tomorrow. I think they just forgot to take their 'juices' yesterday. :p

This is one amazingly exciting Tour, can't wait for these next two stages. :thumbsu:

Then unload all profit on Cav for Paris

Cadel and Basso have got to be thanking their lucky stars that the Col Agnel (1st Climb tomorrow) or even the Col d'Izoard (2nd Climb) aren't the finishing climbs. Galibier is crazy long but compared to other two it isn't as steep and only touches 9% for 2km, the rest of the climb is 5-6%. The last 8km of the Agnel is all 10%...

I wonder whether Contador/Schleck will attack on either of the first two climbs because those climbs have the sections that will bust Cadel. If Cadel can recover on the descent to the start of the Galibier, he may be able to not lose much time at all.

This will be very interesting...

Did someone say Time Trial????

:D:D

From what I understand if Cadel is even going into the TT he wins?

Who do others think will be the favorites for the TT in a couple of days? Cancelarra won from Martin last year. Can we expect a similar result or will the course be different enough to change the results? Is EBH a chance to finish highly?

Would love to hear peoples thoughts? Are there any genuine sprinters who are likely to finish high up in the TT or do they hold out for the last sprint in Paris?

I really want to see cadel get dropped like danny green tonight.

will either take sanchez over cadel @ 1.80 or sanchez over frank @ 1.69

Trofimov v Hesjedal - arbitrage available.

In early today:

4 units Andy Schleck > Evans * Contador > Evans * Andy Schleck > Sanchez @ 3.12

7 units De Weert over Zubeldia @ 1.64 (Sportsbet)

De Weert has been comfortably ahead of Zubeldia in the first two MTFs. Hopefully Zubeldia laid off the blood bag on the rest day.

6 units Sanchez over Evans @ 1.78 (Sportsbet)

It's time for Evans to crack. I didn't get burnt by him so badly in the Pyrenees, even though I expected him to fail miserably, but he's due...

9 units Andy Schleck over Evans @ 1.72 (Centrebet)

I think a bit much is being read into Andy getting dropped on Tuesday - he wasn't expecting anything and therefore lost his cool in his response to the attacks.

7 units Basso over Vandendert @ 1.60 (Centrebet)

Galibier finish is ideal for Basso, also the longer stage should suit him more. If they ride a full pace I think they (Schlecks, Contador, Basso, Sanchez) will manage to drop Vandendert.

3 units CAS over Roche @ 2.70 (Sportingbet)

Roche has been crap this year, as long as Contador doesn't send CAS to the front to put on the pain face he should make it in ahead of Roche. If the heat is on over the first two climbs Roche could get dropped there.

Cadel is the better TTer out of the leading yellow jersey contenders, with the exception of Contador, so if he is in front, or even a little down on time, the yellow is his to lose in the TT.

Cancellara will be odds on for the win. EBH could very well be high up, as will Tony Martin. I don't think they will trouble Cancellara though.

Cunego over Uran
12 units @ 2.00 (Bet365)

Cunego leads 17-2 in Mountain Stages. Has been mostly right up there with the faves.

I can't decide who I want to win - I think I'd prefer Contador to. I think he will too. I'm sick of ignorant casual fans (Aussies supporting Cadel) who say things like 'I hope Cadel beats that dirty cheat Contador' and such as if Cadel is clean.

Hey guys,

I've never really been into the tour de france before but have gotten into it of late this year and been staying up watching all of the stages. Only up until now have I found out that there is some serious value to be made in punting on it if you do your research and watch enough cycling, as was proven to me by my mate who won a lot on sanchez to win on the tourmalet stage in the pyranees. I'm still hesitant about investing to much time on it with the unpredictability of crashes etc still making it hard to predict outright results however I feel that in tonights race the best value bet for me may lie in Jelle Vanendert for a place (and more unlikely win). This tour has proven to be a showdown between the big guns and with this in mind has often let riders further down the GC sneak away on mountain stages and claim victories (as Sanchez and Vanendert have already done) however although I feel Vanendert is too far down the GC to cause the leaders any worries and may be a marked man he is still far enough down for the big guns to ignore should he attack on the climb. The same is not true of Sanchez and I think it took the bookies a while to realise this until now. Andy Schleck looks a spent force at least at this years tour and I can't see Basso or Cunego doing anything miraculous this stage. I am still a 'rookie' to this sport but from what I've seen so far I think Evans should be able to snatch this years tour unless Contador goes nuts today and is able to carry another big gun to help him to the finish line, leaving Evans behind. The next two days sure will make very compelling viewing.

I'd be really interested in thoughts?

Also what does everyone make of todays h2h's on centrebet. I find TABs markets very restrictive and often valueless however from what I see BOASSON HAGEN over HUSHOVD at 1.90 could be value as boasson hagen has proven to be a strong climber and will be a future tour contender whereas hushovd just got into a breakaway on the mountain stage he won and caught up on the flats anyway...

SHould be a good stage today. J Vaughters had an interesting comment on Twitter: "Based on what I've seen, and my gut, I'll guess Contador brings back 50 secs on Schlecks and 30-40 secs on Cadel today."
I'm liking Contador to have a show of force tonight and put a bit of time into his rivals. Will be interesting to see if anyone goes on theearly two climbs or it is saved up for the final ascent...

Tigertriumph, i'd be surprised to see anyone outside the main few winning tonight. Sanchez will be wanting the same KOM points as Vanendert, so I'd say he'd be unlikely for the win.
As for EBH v Hushovd, neither will be winning and neither has much at stake in terms of overall time, so you are really taking a punt on who has the higher care factor for the stage. But EBH is probably the better climber as a rule

STAGE 18 -

8 Units Andy Schleck over Cadel Evans / Haimar Zubeldia over Arnold Jeannesson @ $2.33

I'll be fading Cadel today and tomorrow as i think he'll crack either today or tomorrow. Andy will be desperate and even if Cadel manages to hang on, it'll be the same as the other day where Schleck will attack late. Unless Schleck gets dropped before Cadel it shouldn't lose. Zubeldia over Jeannesson is value for mine as you have an experienced rider who's dealt with these type of stages before against a young rider who wasn't even meant to be in the Tour. Zubeldia looked good yesterday, i can't see it losing.

7 Units Rein Taaramae over Kevin De Weert / Haimar Zubeldia over Arnold Jeannesson @ $2.48

Taaramae looked great yesterday, he attacked late and De Weert did too much work yesterday. He was the main bloke pulling in the De Weert/Roche/Hoogerland, the latter two didn't help much at all so i think that affects him today. Taaramae is after the white, he'll be up for it today, it seems he's getting better. Zubeldia/Jeannesson, reasoning above.

Jeannsson in the mini break with Gesink and Moncoutie and struggling to hold on already.

Verdugo over Casar was the other i was going to multi with Zubeldia, should have taken it, Casar already struggling to hang on to the main group.

Was up late last night holding out for some nice odds. The UK Sportingbet posted their odds first, the Australia are stragglers and wait for the UK ones to be pounded before they release theres by the looks of things.

There were four that stood out for me right when UK Sportingbet opened...

Zubeldia over Jeannesson @ $1.65
Verdugo over Casar @ $1.71
Taaramae over De Weert @ $1.71
Hesjedal over Trofimov @ $2.55

About 20 minutes after they were posted they all dropped fairly significantly and then opened at that reduced price on Sportingbet Australia. :p
