No Oppo Supporters Leak of sensitive information - AFL to lead investigation

Only way compensation is even thought about is if Adelaide are proven to have induced Talia for information, which is highly unlikely in itself and even more difficult to prove. If Adelaide got hit with draft penalties we may have a case we're entitled to them as we suffered real loss from their actions. You shouldn't get compensation for a bloke being an idiot.

A form of quasi compensation could be metted out if Adelaide have a contract in front of Talia and we refuse to trade him for anything other than a deal that's fair, or in our favour. Our second plus Talia for their first or their second for Talia. Would need to play the media well and put Adelaide in a difficult situation - or take it to the AFL's dispute resolution process.

Asking for inside info from a player you're currently negotiating a contract with would be incredibly unethical. Talia would be the least of Adelaide's worries in the highly unlikely event they were that foolhearty... Fines and draft penalties plus suspensions for those who facilitated it.

Nah, players being d*ckheads and being cut has never entitled a club to compensation. Think Barry Hall, Ben Cousins, Campbell Brown, Thomas& Keefe, Dale Garlett, the list goes on.

He is still tradeable, maybe only a third rounder but I'll take that in a heartbeat, 45 and 46 netted us Dale & Daniel last year. Both of these guys are considerably better footballers than Talia.
Fair enough, but this isn't just about Talia. If it is shown that Adelaide in any way co-erced or encouraged Talia with regard to the information, then I think the issue of compensation is very much on the table. Especially if Adelaide are shown to have been interested in trading for him before the information exchange occurred. If they have played a role in this activity, it would be outrageous if they benefit by bidding lower for a player they have contributed to cheapening.

It's not as if the clubs who sought to buy Hall, Cousins, Brown etc cheapened their value by being complicit in their actions.

If Talia (or whoever) just dumped a pile of information on Adelaide completely out of the blue, then we have to cop it, just seems unlikely to me (in which case Adelaide still deserve a whack for taking the unfair advantage and not reporting the matter).

I am probably in the minority here but will post regardless.

Unless MT forwarded an email or notes as to plays etc to his brother then this whole case is going to be almost impossible to prove.

Our club to press the afl for an investigation better mean we have solid proof, otherwise we will look immature and sore losers as some have suggested.

PG is a legend of our club but he does have a hot temprement. Further I feel the loss really cut up Bevo. His post match comments were of a man who was certain we would win and was in a state of shock that we didn't.

Both a great men/leaders, so I just hope we are seeing the forest from the trees here, and as dryrot mentioned that we are not distracting ourselves from what we need to be doing now. Already having the press leak that it's MT at the centre of the investigation and that Bevo has ignored him post season has jepodised the trade value we could have gotten if all this was examined on the quiet.

Lastly I'd hate the coaching and playing staff to be of the mindset as this leak as the reason for the result and not our own limitations on the field which need improving to chase that elusive flag.

Could this be that everything he had come up during the week as tactics was thwarted nearly as quickly as it was implemented? He can't accuse anyone of anything 20mins after the game but if you had done solid work on tactics/game plans leading up to a match, then during the game, you try them all and they all get countered within a few minutes, then you'd be pretty shocked as well i'd imagine.

Curious whether this information could be linked to the big betting plunges on Adelaide. started the betting well over $2, couple of days leading into the game the odds were tumbling (possibly as the information spread) into a clear favorite.

Wondering if any money changed hands in exchange for information that found its way to the AFC. If any of the above were involved, you can understand why the integrity unit has been involved. Suspect they will follow up on some of the betting beneficiaries as well.

We're going to need more than circumstantial evidence and hearsay unfortunately. Would be amazing if we could get a Adelaide player who was privy to the information to flip.

Darcy's comments are interesting and we can be so bloody thankful for them. I think he was passionate because of people like Barratt and Watson in the media who were so off the mark it wasn't funny, so Darcy with inside information had to put them in their place.

If all allegations are true and could be proved it could actually become a case for the courts in the long run - fraud or something similar.

Lets just hope we don't screw this up.

Proven that match-sensitive information was transferred is just this instance is one thing - and proving anything beyond that is another. Was Talia (either one) benefited, financially, or in footballing terms, by facilitating this? Was Adelaide responsible for the initial facilitation? Did it go past the Crows footy department into their upper management? Has Talia done this before?

All of those further are going to be hard to prove even if we can prove in the first instance that Adelaide had and used match-sensitive information from Talia

So if Talia is found guilty and if he gets cleared to Adelaide and if he is selected against us and plays, am i racist for booing him?
i wish i had a trophy to give you for that clever joke but i've run out seeing as the joke's been told a couple thousand times on bf and i have a finite amount of trophies

Off topic, but relevant to a few recent posts;

I don't understand people continually making a mockery and fun of a man that is arguably one of the greatest AFL players to grace our game. Easy way to earn a rare spot on my block list, you ignorant, immature trolls. Makes me wonder why I and others bother coming to talk footy with other passionate supporters when there are clowns like you around here.

The man is a personal friend of mine, and if you had to go through one tenth the shit he's gone through in your day to day life, you'd be curled up in a corner crying.

Apologies to the mods for the off topic and angry rant, but I take great offence to it.

I appreciate yourpassion and sticking up for a mate, but I think they're slightly misaimed. The jokes in this thread seem to be lampooning the media rather than Goodes who was quite classy through most of the booing ordeal. I can't speak for Mr Walker but that was certainly my intent.

Crows will realise their mistake when they start seeing their defenders to go take uncontested grabs only for Michael Talia to run over and spoil said mark his teammates attempt to take, creating a turnover from the unlikeliest of situations.

Fortunately for us....that will be a thing of the past.

Exactly.

If I hear "the AFL needs a strong Essendon/Carlton" again, I'll dead set spew up.

Both are morally reprehensible bastions of organised crime, coercion and disregard for the rules, and the AFL landscape would be better off if both were annihilated with military grade weapons, if they don't destroy themselves first.
Possibly my favourite post on bigfooty ever. Not just simply military grade weapons but something radioactive as well that leaves those blots on the landscape uninhabitable for all future generations.

He has given a hope less and marginalised population of people exactly what they have been stripped of, hope. Please thank him for me.

Can someone give me a brief summary of what Darcy said on MMM - for some reason the link isn't working for me.

Cheers
He was fired up, and said "I am not acusing anyone, but if true, this is an act of bastardisation, one of the worst I've ever heard of at a footy club". That's from memory from Friday so don't quote me word for word.

Was watching the odds a bit that week and I think alot of it coincided with the announcement that Roughead and JJ weren't going to be playing early to mid week.
