This 'just brothers talking' line that people keep jogging out is really starting to give me the shits.

If my brother was an investment banker and I causally told him that the company I worked for was in secret buy out talks with another company...
Do you think the fact that he is my brother will save us from getting done for insider trading?

The AFL media is such a collection of dimwitted jocks that they have an embarrassingly minimal football knowledge and no perspective on anything outside of their backslapping boys club.

Yep. Bush league industry.

I agree TBOW, but we need to just chill for now.

The AFL will need to deal with this swiftly because of the downstream impact on the trade period/list vacancies, etc.

When they do announce their findings there will be angst and outrage on this board one way or another, because (a) the club is vindicated and vital match planning info WAS found to have been leaked intentionally, (b) it was found NOT to have been leaked intentionally, or (c) the AFL gives an "insufficient evidence" response and does nothing. AFL might also cop it if (a) is the case but they merely whack the guilty parties with a feather.

So an indignant meltdown will ensue regardless. Strap yourself in.

Until we hear, though, we should just sit tight. Speculation will be unhelpful.

It's doing my head in, people want it to just be something innocent so it doesn't screw with the Adelaide narrative

That's what the media thinks. Going by the rights deal and the experience of people like Gil and the Commission, they know full and well it's a buisness.

Yeah fair call. I've bitten my tongue thus far, but hearing them replay Liam Pickerings mock indignation on trade radio pushed me over the edge.

Yeah I think the "just brothers talking" excuse only works if it was as simple as him saying - nah I'm not playing, spewing. But it sounds like the allegations are about a lot more than that ie detailed game plan discussions which clearly would not be ok.

Can't help but think the longer this goes, the more chance there is that something substantial will be found.

Those who want this to be a trivial 'just brothers talking' matter (ie Crows fans), should be getting more nervous by the day.
Something substantial should definitely be found. It just depends on proof and what the AFL is willing to act on.

I'm more in the camp of the longer this goes, the easier to sweep it under the carpet it becomes. Particularly if as is likely whatever findings are arrived at are handed down after trade week(s) and Talia has found a new home.

One way or the other, I wouldn't be expecting much in the way of satisfaction let alone any sense of righteousness once the findings are handed down. This after all is the AFL we are talking about.

Findings will be after trade week and the feather they apply will make me more annoyed.

Yes and I fully expect to be greatly disappointed by this outcome.

Also disappointed by the fact that we are so indentured to the AFL that we will have to accept their limp verdict and move on.

The AFL has a vested interest in a particular finding for a matter that it is itself investigating and determining. This is, ahem, unsatisfactory.

If the AFL had an ombudsman it would temper my dissatisfaction, but as an independent body it's a law unto itself that often fails to maintain even the perception that it values impartiality.

Maybe AFL will think the longer it goes, the more chance they'll think everyone will forget about it. Quietly announce their findings on the day that Danger deal gets done, watch ;)

Pickering drives me nuts whenever he opens his gob.

With Talia, he says it's just two brothers having a chat and it'll come to nothing. Now with Aish, he says Brisbane will get it done despite them categorically saying he'll go to the draft.

Must remember to ask this a***clown for the lotto numbers.

He defends the people that put food on his table. Can't blame him. As someone said earlier we were quite fond of him during the Boyd trade last year.
