thought leigh brown was good for us tonight. competed well - particularly in the first half and brought the ball to ground. he was also good at ground level. granted the opposition aint much but he has copped a lot of bagging on this forum and its probably fair a few of you acknowledge he went ok tonight. he did as much as could be expected of him in filling in at chf.

well you blokes clearly havent played a lot of footy - have a look at the first 2 qtrs again and watch things other than kicks and handpasses.........things such as contests!

He is an experienced tall utility recruited for depth. With Rocca, Reid and Cloke out having him in the side allowed Fraser and Wood to concentrate on Cox and made sure Jack wasn't double teamed on the forward line. His stats won't show much but using him in the structure was important to tonights win.

Haha, this is the coming from the bloke who thought Clarke was good last week and Corrie was decent, amongst a bunch of other bullshit.

Anyone that defends Leigh Browns legitimacy for a position in the team because he 'contests', clearly has NFI about football :thumbsu:

Leigh Brown was an absolute non-entity again, as per usual, it doesn't surprise me that Malthouse isn't the only one deluded by this guy. He did manage to pull the eyes over two other clubs, even tricking one into spending a a first round draft pick on him.
A masterful deceiver.

The thing with Leigh Brown is that when he doesn't do shit things it's a win for us.

Tonight was one of those nights. Did nothing apart from his goal and one other good bit of play but didn't **** up.

The thing is though, do we play Rocca & Cloke ahead of a bloke who's impact will be neglible at best? I say yes.

After he kicked that goal he looked relieved and probably gave Mick a reason to select him again next week even though his game didn't warrant it.

Didn't see him much after that goal. Gives us nothing.

This was the theory.

So....he's basically a decoy?

I'd rather a player on the team than a decoy.

The problem is that simply being able to compete is not enough. If you are actually gong to make a serious impact in the competition then you can't afford to carry guys like this who are never going to have a significant impact on a game and who are useless every couple of games.

There is a reason that he is at his third club.

I cant be fair, so I really shouldnt comment on Leigh Brown's performance tonight. I will never forgive the dud for costing us the ANZAC day game with those 2 points from easy shots in the last quarter.

He was "better" tonight, that's all I'll say.

He did a couple of good things here and there, but theres just no room, with a few forwards coming back, for Fraser, Wood and himself in the 22. He provided us with the least output, alongside Goldsack and will need to make way for one of our premier forwards.

If Cam Wood can play more games that standard, you can not possibly justify Leigh Brown's inclusion when Cloke is fit.

And a side note, Shannon Cox's a$$ size is a freaking embarassment.

I thought he just gave us a big mobile body up forward to create a contest.

Bryan not mobile enough and Dawes doesn't have the presence to does this yet.

He'll make way when Trav or Pebs are available.

Yeah I thought Clarke was good last week. Watch the game and have a look at the contests he was in and how many times he got rid of the ball when he was sold into crap.........you're clearly more interested in just kicks and handpasses and hence why you laud crap on anyone that doesnt get 20 touches. You wouldnt have noticed when Corrie cleared a path for Davis's boundary line goal etc. I probably overshot the Corrie call but at least I can be objective.

When you say Brown is an absolute non entity again I just cant take you seriously pal. Being objective is more admirable than just piling sh*t on someone because you have backed yourself into a corner.

I dont think Browns in the best 25 we have but when we have the injuries we do I am thankful he can at least give a contest at CHF. His efforts in the first half were good.

dont disagree - frankly more keen to play Reid in front of L.Brown as well but Dawes cant play CHF and nor can BRyan.

Cox - eating at the same place Richy Cole use to. If he could get fit he could be anything.
