No one's claiming he was "so good"
Just that he did alright with what was available. His brief was to turn the list over whilst remaning competitive and that's what happened.
He was clearly a bit soft in negotiations but if you don't have knowledge of the contracts and TPP situations then you can't judge either way.
Irrespective of what the new guys thought of this or that, our situation is markedly better than when he started, and based on a 5 year plan it's tracking ok. Enough to have a real crack at JDG, and the bucket of money that SOS will be throwing around this year is largely thanks to Gags.
There's no need to crap on every former employee. There's good, bad and in between, Gags was an in between.

Couldn't care less if Gallagher was still there or not, like if Lethlean is there or not, just don't think he did a bad job.

Yeah don't care about Toce, Gallagher, Lethlean or anyone else to be honest.

Lyon is the man and if he can improve the team as he has been since arriving, I am on his side.

Frankly I don't know if Gallagher or Lethlean did their job, the details and day to day operation, their KPI's and their KRA's are unknown to any of us, what and who it is benchmarked with and who will be better.

We see results and if judged by that we have had one good President, CEO, List Manager and Coach since 1873, so there is lots that none of us know about that goes into both jobs.

Yeah Gallagher left for personal reasons not because he was sacked.

Lethers started the review after Ratts had been extended by Finnis. Strange that he would do that if he was the one who pushed the re-signing.

From memory the review found it was coaching & rehab standards that needed to be addressed. Mainly due to players not being held to account by Ratts & the coaching group when they cut corners.

Just look at the s**t canning of Lethers as to why people shitcan Gaggs, he gets referred to as Lethers mate to reinforce the job for mates rhetoric, regardless of how that dept grew or what it did.

As an aside, I'd also take Rath into Walsh rather than run with Sexton, so Lethers also gets a pass on that front by rotating that man outta the club. Shoulda stopped at development and never stepped into coaching but I digress.

I was a hater from day one. What club employs a disgraced office boy to do a list review. Honestly the Finnis era was like years sitting at home smoking bongs talking about how you were going to start a band and become famous....while forgetting which day to put in your dole cheque in.

2019 5 recruits, four of who are still seniors players, also drafted Ronnie who is a seniors player
2020 Crouch and Higgins. Senior players. Alison a mistep. Wood as a DFA been great
2021 Naz, Windy, Mitch, Coops mid season.
2022, Pou, Van Es Hotton, Keeler.

St Kilda claimed that taking them in the draft and realising that kids are actually good changed their plan to keep topping with older B graders. If Lethers and Gags had been let go we would've been on a very dead-end trajectory. Luck or design, if we hadn't found those guys which was probably a bit of luck and a bit of management, it has set us up for a genuine run. If we'd kept perpetually playing the Lehers play book over and over we'd be sitting outside the 8 hoping that some free agent will come for $1.2 million a season and save us.

Finding those kids probably saved us from Ratts, Lethlean and Rath running the footy department still. I don't think people realise how close to heading down a bad road we got.
