All Hardwick has to do is get richmond to 10th & he will be offered an extension.

cant expect a coach to rebuild in 3 years with out the core players,He will get a 2 year extension if you ask me.

depends how low the expectations are gun...I believe we have a better list than ESS and they managed to improve plenty...I would have thought post 2010 we were better placed than the eagles...and they...The case with frawley may not be a precedent as there were a number of things wrong with the club beyond those holding the coaching reigns...dont get me started on chief recruiting officer Beck

the cats turned the place upside down midstream and yiedled benefits, last year the WC added assistants to their panel and the proof is in the pudding...Not sure that our team is beyond repute...but hey I stand to be corrected

The biggest difference between us and the teams on our tier is that they all have a core of veterans while we don't. For this reason were going to be up and down like Oprah. Next year we'll finish outside the 8 probably 9th, the mark of improvement will be whether we can knock off a top four team. Seeing us foot it with the big boys here and there, that will be all you can ask for from guys under 25.

While we will undoubtedly improve so will the teams around us. Freo had a pile of injuries and while our youth is as good is there's they still have a core of quality older players, they most certainly will be better, Melbourne you'd imagine will be on a par with us still, North we may overtake, Essendon will be back with us. Gold Coast will still be at or near the bottom but will be a much harder team.

I dont see the harm in giving him a new contract now so the players know that he will be there for awhile yet. However if that was not to happen then yeah top10 and he will get what he is after.

Having ebbed and flowed from fits of rage since missing the finals for the 10th time in a row, the dust has now settled and Im tuned in...I'll admit that does make some sense..in fact I can recall tony shaw was pumped up with assistants a couple of years in...a worthy point that kinda balances the argument , that said every case is different and I still believe the lack of expereince has cost us making ground at the pace sides around us have in last 18 months

No doubt Hardwick did seem inexperienced at times this season. Could have used a wise head around the place when we went through that bad patch.

Ben cousins has vocied intrest in helping us move forward in a coaching or development role.

Would love to see Ben as a development coach cause he is a freak in the gym and i believe that rubbed of a bit when he was playing for us.

I reckon Ben would be our plan B or even Plan A as he is a more a Tiger than Neil

two, he wants to help the club

Three, the young players love him

Four, it will make other (younger players want to play for us)

Five, he is a star

In a democracy… freedom of speech is something we all enjoy as Australian citizens, that is unless you belong to a Richmond football forum.

How disappointing to see a recent thread that put a valid question out there regarding the speed at which threads are merged, then closed and the participants threatened with cards.

Without supporters this forum would be dead, so why aren’t we allowed to publicly discuss what we like and what we don’t as long as it doesn’t denigrate into personal attacks.

Very, very disappointing.

i think cuz is being suggested for the role as he was an elite athlete and has done/experienced/pushed himself through what the players have. Therefore he'd be good.

regardless, i would love cuz to come back, but i think the chances of it happening are very minimal.

10-11 wins

Average loseing margin to be a lot lower

Not lose to GWS,GC,Port,Brisbane,Adelaide

Beat 2-3 top 8 teams from this year ...... essendon,sydney,stkilda all possibilities

I'd suggest his real life experience more than compensates for the lack of a uni degree . Everything good in this world hasn't been invented or developed on the back of university education .

Might have been something in Kiwi_Tigers post. Ross Stevenson kicked off the rumor file this morning with "Sad, but recently retired AFL player has relapsed and has been admited to hospital"

If it was just a member of the public you could take it with a grain of salt, but he is usually on the ball if he actually comes out and says something... Or he was reading Kiwi`s post this morning and used that as his hunch.

I think if we get Ben then it should be for a supporting role to the head development coach instead of the main role. The position is too important for someone with little experience to take it on.

there were a handful of examples that most would rattle off that all resulted in narrow losses...the western bulldogs game stood out ...How did we allow gilbee to have 5 or 6 by half time, I mean seriously...The bulldogs were barely kicking that many goals a game letalone a HBF getting on the end of that many in a half of football...the preparation for the port game in darwin...the leads we were giving sides early on in the year and then having to work into the contest...

i dont mind hardwick as in the style of footy we play, I reckon it is winning footy however their are rough edges that is the difference and why ESS and WC streaked past us in 2011 relative to 2010...i reckon if it aint addressed i can see the same rough edges surface again in 2012 that could ultimately cost us

Is it co-incidence that Cotchin had his best-ever year after Cousins left? That Martin continued to improve and didn't suffer second-year blues?

Yes, of course it is. We have no idea if Cousins can coach or not. He was a great player. So were plenty of others.

I didn't really see great evidence of 'inspiuration' during his 2 years with us - he was a useful player. But I think the media inflated the 'elder statesman/mentor' angle just a tad.

Bt by all means if he applies and we think he would be OK, he can go through the interview process like anyone else

Agree Wallaby.

I have heard it direct from our coach that Ben is not the coaching type. He did not care much for tactical meetings and saw his role as a "pack sweeper" type where he'd run hard from a contest. Ben was an incredibly talented footballer who trained and played with gut instinct.

He may have a role as inspirer of youth, but he's not a coach or manager or Director.
