Max Gaun to Chocco "I get the Port Adelaide thing.."

Chocco "No you don't quite get it..."

Nothing like hearing a little bit of Port Adelaide history on the Dees podcast. Also nice to hear Chocco is still cheering for Port in a showdown while travelling with the Dees.

Apologies if this has already been shared.

The fact that Gawn, an All Australian and premiership ruck, refers to the Showdown as the Derby demonstrates how minimally football outside of Melbourne is considered.

Edit: lol Choco points this out.

Yep and to be fair Brayshaw corrects him twice before he listens. Loved it when Chocco told Gawn to open his mind and get out of his Melbourne bubble.

Just realised I hold a grudge against general Sandgroperdom for misappropriating ‘derby’ (small-d, pronounced ‘darby’ by any sane person and most commonly used to refer to local soccer rivalries) as ‘Derby’ (capital-D, pronounced ‘DURRRby’).

Awful. Hope they do secede.

When speaking, there’s no difference between capital and no-capital letters.

There is the Derby, and there are derbies. The Showdown is a derby; the South Australian derby.

P.S.: That what tribey said.

Gawn called it "the Derby", akin to "the Showdown". Just confused West Horsham with Greater Western Horsham.

The Western Bulldogs, playing in an Eastern state and not even the most western team of that state tells you everything you need to know about what the Malbun bubble think of football outside of it.

The Brown Duurrrby in USA.

Unusual post from a Croms Ambassador but refreshing to see
That's what struck me. Good to see that he has risen above the "Port Power Football Club established 1996" garbage their ambassadors usually spew forth.

Started reading this and thought oh yeah, more Damo BS about who he thinks have been the best he has seen from president, ceo, coach, captain, doctor, fitness head, even mascot to copy when setting up the next AFL club/team. Burgo got the fitness gig, but I was impressed with his choice for runner.

Runner: David Arnfield

So committed was this guy to Port Adelaide's cause that he actually felt he was a player, and would rarely leave the playing arena. Was actually suspended for such activity.

Debutant Jason Davenport ❤

Thought of putting it in the media shakes head thread but…
Tom Rehn reported tonight that Jesse Motlop is making his debut for Carlton this week.
Then he went on to say that Jesse is the son of The Powers “premiership hero” Daniel.
Sh1t, I wish that were true,

I saw a tweet yesterday excited about Jesse and his dad playing in the AFL at the same time! It was just a nuffy getting confused with Steven though - not a 'proper journalist'.

Luke Hodge was on his regular segment with Whateley and they were talking about intimidation, and the Luke Parker v Dylan Shield incident.

I'm surprised Gerard didn't get all worried about the look of intimidation and call it bullying.

Have a listen to what Hodge says about Port players intimidating him and Hawks players in 2005 and 2006 and it lasting until even in 2010-12 years when we weren't much good but still having an impact from those early days.

In 2005 on a Friday night at Footy Park we won 188 v 71, which is our biggest AFL, score and winning margin.

In 2006 at Footy Park on a Sunday we won by 96 pts =6th biggest win, and took 38 marks Inside 50, an AFL record since they started being kept in 1999.

Have a listen between 6.08 and 7.20
