Let's talk Ports! Part 3

Honestly, getting random Overseas celebrity with zero interest, care or understanding of the game, to put on your guernsey and pretend they "root" for you is and always has been lame. The Malbun clubs have always clamored over themselves to get these shitty media grabs with the Fat Collywobbler Campaigner always at the front of the queue. I guess in this world of shit social media it becomes important for the vacuous for fleeting minute, but year it is lame.

Port's media team has pounced on the Alice pic now

I saw Alice's Welcome To My Nightmare show at Footy Park in 1977. If he was doing that show now he could use Kenny Hinkley as a prop rather than a Ports' guernsey.

Did he wear a Magpies guernsey that night?

Missed out on Elton.

Even Elton wouldn't wear those garish colours. And this is from a man who wore this.

Alice Cooper is great not only because of his music, but because he is a genuinely cool dude. Great radio host, mellow and fun.

When I was a kid he was the crux of much moral panic. Then Marilyn Manson came along and made him resemble a slightly wayward Hanson brother.

2004 Port v St Kilda PF in Fox Footy now.

“Kenny, Riewoldt’s on fire and their midfield is killing us, we should look to make some adjustments”

- “Thanks Phil. Alright boys, huddle up... YOUSE GUYS WORK HARDER”

Legit never heard of Alice Cooper before.

I think he is a rock n' roll icon. Apart from his theatrical live shows which have made him a pioneer in gothic and "shock rock", Cooper has sold well over 50 million records.

His period of relevance as a recording artist was mostly between 1971 and 1975 apart from his comeback in 1989. However several of his greatest hits live on such as 'Schools Out', 'Poison', 'Billion Dollar Babies', 'Only Women Bleed', 'No More Mr Nice Guy' and 'Welcome to My Nightmare' continue to live on. I'd be really surprised if you haven't heard 'Schools Out' which is still kind of an anthem for kids who are going on holiday from school.

Away from music, Cooper is a film actor, a golfing celebrity, a restaurateur, and, since 2004, a popular radio DJ with his classic rock show Nights with Alice Cooper which were a staple on TripleMMM for years.

Cooper is also the subject of the "we're not worthy" meme, which originates from his cameo in Wayne's World with Mike Myers and Dana Carvey in 1992.

If you are a Millenial or tastes in music veer well clear of hard rock then you certainly missed him. If you listen to TripleMMM I'd be surprised if you didn't hear his radio show which used to be played at lunch and in the evening over and over and over again.

Despite what Papa G thinks I think it is cool he wore the guernsey though I have no idea what the background story is.
