Regardless of what I think of John as a player (not much) he was out of favour with no 'future' at the club & should've been delisted the year before, it was painful.. I'm sure even he felt liberated mentally by the time it came.

He was never going to come good at Port.
That passed him here, he was shot.
Nearly everyone of us are glad he has gone elsewhere and made a go of it! A solid person and potentially very good footballer.

Yeah but it's not like any new song we put out is going to be any more Port Adelaide than the current song, and given the current song does in fact have nearly a quarter of a century of history behind it, it probably is the most Port Adelaide song that we can use.
