Yeah in the old days was about 40 mins to Billy Goat hill these days we have only to travel 15-20 mins. Sorry mate u are correct it is pool not pull..

An hour and a bit to training makes a long night. 1 hour travel each way with a 2hr session in the middle makes for a very long day.

I'll tell you that Natte are very aggressive in their recruiting but recruiting depth is hard. Why would someone who is likely to be a fringe player go to Natte when he knows he'll get a game at Rovers, Bushy, Dunolly or Talbot without any problems?

Natte can get the top end players, but depth players is another story.

Trying harder is not the problem. And employment? Maryborough has the highest unemployment rate in Victoria. As far as farms go, there is a draught at the moment but it was a good suggestion.

Trying to get a Ballarat player to Natte would be tough work. They drive past close to 10 footy ovals on the way to the game or training.

Maybe the ladies need to a bit more "madrooting" in the Natte/surrounding area. Its not a quick fix but maybe in 16 to 20 years time they'll be able to have a list of 50 plus players. Get rid of the dingers Natte boys!
 OOOOHHHH yeah:eek:

I'm with you madroota69,
I think there is already quite a bit of that going on up there, but I think they have forgotten to ask the ladies to join in.

By the look of this thread i would say the LPFL is shot.

It's a stupid league but teams like Carngham, Skipton and Rokewood should want to hang onto it for dear life. Playing for 5th spot would be about as good as it gets for those teams if they were to get in the CHFL. No offense intended but there is a considerable step up in standard.

Natte and Navarre would be in the top 3 in the MCDFL. The team Natte has should win a flag in our league.

I'll probably get shot down for saying this on this thread but in all honesty Skipton who is undefeated at present wouldn't get within 10 goals of learmonth, ballan or whoever else is fighting for the last spot in the CHFL finals. But dont think ur leagues immune to the prospect of teams folding/leaving in the not too distant future.Stupid league?

Stupid League: Geographically it makes no sense. There are teams far better suited to leagues that are closer in distance to them yet the VCFL persists with this current structure.

I've been raving on about a 2 division CHFL for quite a while now. It is a good idea and the CHFL would just have to wear it. They think they have a great league now but how long can the bottom teams last with Daylesford, Waubra and Hepburn demolishing sides?

In a 2 division comp the lower teams could actually have some chance of winning games and perhaps even focusing on a premiership.

Take Clunes for example. They are a decent team and have won a few games and gone close in mostly all of their games, but they managed 1 point against Daylesford! Teams would not have to face that sort of humiliation if there was 2 divisions.

It works for comps like the Essendon District FL so why not give something like this a go? The VCFL should be proactive rather than reactive.

I saw a stat on ABC that said 50 clubs have folded accross Victoria in the last 25 years. They think the same amount will fold in the next ten. Who wants to see that?

Having played in both leagues recently i would agree Skipton would not get within 10 goals of Learmonth at present. The travel and location is a great problem for the Lexton league and its sustainability. Despite this it is a terrific league to play with lots of terrific people from all clubs. As long as people have a club to play for and are passionate about it it doesn't really matter if Skipton would get belted by anyone else etc.

huge news out of c/l today that ross waters has done is ACL and is out for the remander of the season, he did it tuesday night at training but wasnt sure exactly what he had done until scans yesterday revealed the worst, this is a huge blow for C/L and if they had any chance of winning the flag i think it went out out the window tuesday night

I dont think r.waters loss will be that huge.....i have heard they have found a replacement in Dave Missen, they tell me he is a very similar player to ross waters (even looks like him)........can anyone from the C/L camp inform us on this?

I'll tell you why C/L wont win the flag and it's not because of a made up story about his knee, it's because of the lack of focus. You guys on here talking bout C/L ARE C/L. Skipton will beat you guys easily this week! concetrate on that

Its always hard to compare Leagues, but the CHFL is a long way in front of the LP. The top 5 players in majority of LP sides would easily get a game in all sides outside the top 3 Heburn, Waubra & Dford. The main problem is depth and thats were sides win premierships from, and that is what makes the two leagues so different. Same can be said for CHFL compared to the BFL, the top 5 players would get games, but its depth, and that comes from numbers of people in the community and the proximity to major sized towns.

Just out of interest AJ. Who from the LPFL would you like to be in your team?

Skipton- McKay, Lench, Molloy, Fletcher
C/Linton- Fitgerald, Ladiges, Greenbank, Clarke
Navarre- B Driscoll
Lexton- Johnson, Chew, Shortal
Natte- J McNamee, L Berlund
R/Cor- Douglas, Biggs, Blackford (Gun)

I think any of those guys would hold their own in teh CHFL if they were committed. Ross Waters is a good/excellent player when fit, and I am mates with him, but too much of a hassle to keep focused and would bring other players undone. Which seems to be supported by a lot of people on this site, that have seen him play more then what I have.
Am also cousins with T Mckay, and he is a gun and excellent coach, that many clubs have chased.

Good list.

Ryan Head and Steven Ross are another 2 that are proven at the higher level. Ross played interleague for Bendigo League and we all know Head's credentials.

Hill goes well in the CHFL too!

Spot on would definantly have Hill & head, forgot about them 2. Class players. Never sen Steven Ross play, so I cant judge him.

I've really only seen 1 Natte game this year and he wasn't playing.

I saw him 3 years ago playing for Maryborough and the Bendigo FL interleague team. He's got serious pace, skill and is a strong build.
