Also a very strong rumour that Natte has lost its senior coach due to him being transferred in his work. I think that his name was Rex Bennett and he worked as a stock agent. Anyone able to confirm or refute?

Confrmed. Transferred to Albury with Elders.

Losing a coach at this time of year can be devastating for a club. Surely they will have to go internal now to fill the void??
The talk is that training is currently being supervised by Brent Mortlock, Chris "Chopper" Jardine and Noel Jacobs. The word is that Brent "Bruno" Mortlock is not keen to take over the reigns again for season 2008.
I would say that any of the three named above would do a good job if they had the time and desire to coach. IMO

The last thing Natte would need is a reluctant coach. They need someone inspired to take them one better. They've got a big job ahead of them IMO.

r u sure about that m8 not sure he would leave after being appointed joint coach only 4 months earlier

Good question Chokewood but all the talk appears to be true. I think a good job was provided if my mail is correct and the Gold Coast has a little more appeal than Linton over winter.

It wouldn't be a very popular decision though. Same with the Natte situation.

My man says he'd be surprised if hilly went as he's been outstanding as coach so far over the pre season and has the boys in a frame of mind that would put shivers through the league. Secondly to say that it wouldn't be a popular decision for either of these coaches to leave is fair enough but remember lifes bigger than footy and if a work transfer to Albury or wherever came up and it would better this man then footy comes second to the Natte footy club and i'm sure knowing a some of blokes over there he's left with their full support. Rokewood the early favourites no losses gained some good ones.

the club he has gone too has already announced HILL as assistant coach I understand he may have left the club in the lurch but its a pretty good opportunity as assistant to play dry weather footy live in brisbane in a great comp however going from lexton league to AFLQ div2 big step good way to get out of ballarat though

Family and work always come before footy for all players. For a coach though, I'd say it is almost a second job and it would be something that I would expect people to do if they were 100% committed to the task and could devote all the time and energy needed for it.

Good on Hilly though, I hope he does well up there and all the best to the other guy.

Don't worry about Hilly. He'll do fine up there.

I'll be surprised if Hill doesn't run out in the saints colours this year. Interesting to see that Carngham, Natte, Illabarook and Ararat still are yet to lodge a clearance. So far it seems as though there will be more quality players coming rather then going (which is great). Anyone know any of the guys going to Skipton, Navarre and Chokewood?

Typical Hilly. Leaving a club in the lurch after getting a better offer. From what I have heard, AFLQ div 2 is no better standard than the CHFL.

Hilly is staying at Carngham. Braith Nunne will play this year. Carngham will be stronger and will win three in a row. Game over!!!!!!!!!!!!:thumbsu:

The league he has gone to is AFLQ Div 2. div 1 is state league so its a step down equal to Div 1 country vic, your way off the mark if you think its no better than CHFL !!!

I think you'll find that AFLQ is no where near the standard of WA, SA, Vic or even NT state leagues. Sure its only a step down from AFLQ Div 1 but that step down is a significant one.

Yes i agree with SA WA AND VFL but i can tell you one thing State league footy in QLD is better then NT and the ovens murray which is called the best country footy around Aust
AFLQ STATE LEAGUE is a high standard of footy so unless your serious when you get here most players leave the year after because it's to hard

and div 1 is just below the state league
if you don't think what i'm saying is true then come up and watch a game
or wait the see how QLD goes this year against WA in the state game in townsville not saying we will win but if we lose it won't be by much

I'd still be surprised if Hill leaves. On the leaving note I bet there would be a few teams if not, every team other then carngham that would be glad to see the transfer of one particular player away from the league.

The info came on this site from a poster in the QAFL section and various people around Ballarat. Good to hear he is staying. It was more than me that had my leg pulled.

Hillys departure was as stated an employment one and from what he's said to my mate at the club hes job down here finishes up pretty soon so i think a move is still on the cards. Let me guess you think every team in the comp is glad they don't have to put up with Rossy Waters. Rob Waters to coach interleague team if the nungaron boys are correct

Good choice of coach. He's had the most success in the LPFL compared to the rest and would know the league inside and out.

Think a few people would be interested to see Rob Waters as the Interleague coach, he is the sort of bloke you wouldn't know how he would be. Could be a head case and might really grill his players or he could be very calculated and structured in the way he goes about it in a manner that gets the most out of every individual.

Bit of a rumour that Brendan Scott aka (pumpa) is heading to coach his beloved Natte?

Confirmation came thru last night that the big bubble head is singed sealed and delivered. Good luck to the swans this year.........only thing they have to do now is build a new coaches box to fit his already oversized head in!! :D:thumbsu:

Favourite for the flag is Rokewood at $2.70 followed by c/l at $4.50 and Skipton at $6.00 Natte at $50.00 Illabrook $17.00 Lexton $18.00 Ararat $123.00 Navarre $25.00 they would be my odds for the big one what does everyone think???
