And even then, we ideally wouldn't be paying that much. 23 is recognising that Baker is in fact a decent player. Ideally, we'd be spending R3 & R4 picks on older guys and saving the first two rounds for kids and jets.

Yeah definitely, try as hard as we can to pay less, but id be happy with using that pick knowing that itll end up being pick 30ish

Was Sharrod Wellingham for a first round pick enjoyed?

Wellingham was recruited after the 2012 season when we had just lost a relatively close semi-final.
We were in a different position and it was perceived that the we were on the up-and-up (and we made a Grand Final in Wellingham's 3rd season with us).
For the record I think Baker is a better player than Wellingham. I just don't think he fits what we need comparative to his anticipated cost at this time. If we were competing for finals this would be an entirely different equation.
