Sensing the Dogs supporters are watching Jones intently with the hope that he'll fail and the fear that he'll turn into the player they hoped he would at the Dogs

It's been an interesting phenomenon to observe over the preseason. One even drifting over to Game Day threads to talk the club/team down at every turn. Talk about issues lol

Yeah, fancy discussing a team in a thread to do with them

Not that different to some of the Carlton supporters trawling the internet for negative news about Waite, Robinson, Garlett etc...

It's nothing every supporter base doesn't do.

Team A invests time & money into young player X
Young player X is a spud
Team B gets Young Player X
Team A gets a bit worried Young Player X will suddenly step up and be what they expected

The reality is a spud tends to stay a spud.

I was one bulldog fan who was pretty annoyed when Jonesy left, I think with some more KPF help plus a game plan more suited to his talents that he could be very handy for us in 2015. Both Jonesy and Redpath last year were slaughtered due to slow ball movement, and so many numbers around the ball, that opposition teams would always have spare numbers in our forward half making it very difficult for Jonesy and Big Red. To the point where both were dropped and Stringer became our number 1 forward (with pretty good success).

In saying that though Jack Redpath has had an excellent pre-season and has kicked numerous goals in nab challenge games and our intra club where he absolutely dominated. Red also has great one on one contested marking skills, great second efforts and provides an aggresive leadup option, I'd almost consider him a poor man's Jesse Hogan. Certainly won't be an A grade forward but a very vital structural cog in our team that Jonesy didn't provide. I'd say nearly every dogs fan over the preseason would prefer Redpath on our list than Jonesy.

L Jizz has great hands, great speed and when he judges the ball properly (which is rare) he can be very dangerous. I think he was a bit unfortunate that he never had another 190cm along side him until 3 years into the McCartney era and by then the writing was on the wall half way through the 2014 season. Certainly was a huge set back in his career.

To be fair MEB, I think the vast majority of Blues supporters either don't care or wish them the best.

All three were well loved at one point and did contribute signficantly to the club. I would be surprised (and disappointed) if there were more than a few idiots who wish them to fail.

I think Redpath looks like he could become something very very good.

There are levels of this however.

Dogs fans do not have any problem wishing Adam Cooney well in his next endeavours.

No Dogs fan worth their salt wishes Ryan Griffen even a skerrick of good will in his next endeavours.

Liam Jones comes somewhere in between the above emotional responses, as you can see from this thread.

He had 2 knee recos which stopped him getting drafted earlier. Don't think we will see the best of Jack until he is in his late 20's due to his knee history, but his preseason has been the biggest positive out of the kennel. I wouldn't be surprised if we are too tall and want a geniune second ruck in the team in Cordy then T.boyd would miss out rather than Redpath. Think hes a 22 game lock.

The other two I don't care about, but if you think I want Waite to suddenly blossom you're deluded. Not that I wish him injury or suspension, he can take care of that himself.

I think you'll find the vocal ones quoting every negative news article they can find, and taking a lot of pleasure from them.

I'm not saying they're wrong if that's how they want to be, but I think it's unfair for people to then call out supporters from other clubs for doing the same.

Yep Big Red has been terrific. Just having an extremely big and aggressive guy up forward just helps the rest of the forward line a huge amount! Like Dogsman said the guys already had two knee recos, and at that size its ****ing impressive he's even playing AFL. Turns 24 this year and you can tell he's finally over his injuries, was always super quick in a straight line but his tank and mobility (i.e agility) were well below AFL standard but that has changed over the preseason. He's even lined up at center bounces as a rover at times this preseason, if you told me that last year I'd be in hysterics. He doesn't have to be a star he just has to keep up his defensive pressure which has been fantastic, and provide a target at CHF which he has been doing, as a bonus he's probably the best set shot on our list, anywhere to 60m, so if he gets an opportunity chances are he will take it. Loving him and if he comes on it will do absolute wonders for the team, and Tommy Boyd.

I agree Jones has copped it from Dogs supporters, and I find myself at times hoping he fails too (even though I was one of his biggest fans when he was at the dogs) but like mentioned we all have nothing but respect for Coons (well apart from the jumper he's wearing) and I don't think you will find anyone begrudge Tutty considering he always put in effort and wasn't given a proper go from our old coach, I wish him nothing but success (personal success :p), Griff isn't even worth mentioning because its fairly obvious why we have a problem with him. Jones is different though, he has gotten the most chances out of anyone on our list over his career even though he would dish up shit. We know he's extremely talented but it just leaves a bad taste in dogs supporters mouths when you give a guy as good a run as he got and than at his first chance, when he's finally getting to the age he should come good, in a position we desperately need (and have given him first crack at it over anyone else) and in a bad time for the club. It makes sense we want him to fail. Anyway it looks like same old same old for Ljizz.

Yeah Dogs fans are 110 % justified in their bitterness at Griffen.

Reckon Liam Jones leaving will be beneficial to both parties, don't see any real reason why Dogs fans should be mad at LJ for leaving, but if he had a lax/lazy attitude at your club, I get why some would be pissed.

Yeah, fancy discussing a team in a thread to do with them

LOL. Yeah right. You kicked off with a false claim that someone had claimed Casboult as a big loss and then used that false claim as a platform to talk about recruiting KPF's as a dig at Jones. You might not realise you have issues champ, but don't get miffed when others point out the obvious.

Pity the fools.

Redpath reminds me of the role Dawes played at Collingwood, but with a bit more aggression!

Have a feeling (in hindsight) that Liam Jones, like Shaun Higgins, may have been mis-managed by Brendan McCartney (just a vibe, nothing based in fact)

Hard to say for sure, but Luke Beveridge seems like a much better fit for the Dogs as coach then McCartney (but obviously that doesn't mean I think LJ would have performed any better as a player if he had Beva as coach .. )

That's a very strong opinion!

Yeah I know, but I really rate Beveridge as a coach, give him 3-4 years and he'll make the Dogs a top 4 contender again IMO, I just have an inexplicable Al Clarkson vibe about him (both have similiar resumes as players and pathways to becoming an senior AFL coach.

Liam Jones could be like Jay Schulz when he went to Port? Probs not though.

Attacks the ball well, watched him on the w/e just doesn't get to enough contests and if he doesn't he needs to make the most of the contests he gets to which he doesn't.

Having said that there's no reason why he can't average 1.5-2 goals for the year and kick 35-40 which Carlton would take for pick 46, especially given they have lost Betts, Waite and Garlett their 3 main goalkickers.

If you spent more time discussing football and less time personally attacking anyone who dares speak ill of the Blues, this site would be for the better.

As it is, all you do is seek to discredit anyone with an opposite opinion to yours, rather than actually putting up your opinion. It's just weak

Nah you seem to have a thing against us for some reason.

Even when we drafted Everitt of all people you were in there trying to discredit him.

You even mentioned Jones indirectly in the gameday thread so you don't really have a leg to stand on here.
