Seeing as Lidia discussion is cropping up across multiple threads, let's have us a thread for people who want to discuss her contribution to Australian politics.

It should go without saying but seeing as she's a bit of a beacon for controversy - for a variety of reasons - let's just remind ourselves what the board rules are around racism and sexism, shall we?

there have been multiple requests from multiple posters for you to provide examples of her pathological lying which you have ignored

your main intent in this thread seems to be to attack her credibility

which is generally where people start when going after someone who has accused someone else of abuse

can't see what you thinking she's racist has anything to do with this otherwise

though it does give me a pretty good idea of what kind of person you are given you're running with a Pauline Hanson line

You can't throw that mud under privilege and then say you don't want to take it further. A police investigation is needed for both parties, he's either sexually assaulted her ruined his own career and is a pig or she's just ruined his career with a lie. It's too late to backpedal now.

If i jumped to a poor conclusion and then Peter Dutton revealed he had more morals than me and dumped the person I'd been protecting, i'd be embarrassed. I couldn't believe it when i logged back in and found people still attacking Thorpe. Van's career is over and his party have dumped him.

Lidia Thorpe had the bravery to speak for herself but knows it wouldnt meet criminal proof levels. But somebody else has come forward from within the LNP about Van and now he's kicked out of the party.

Peter Dutton isnt willing to defend Van, and he's his boss and knows more details than all of us. But here we have Sphynx still sticking by his narrative that Thorpe is a liar.

This is like a live stream of consciousness where somebody has publicly stated a silly position and is unwilling to change it even when presented which mountains of evidence that they're wrong. Classic.

But given she didnt even name anyone today and instead just rattled off a bunch of times she wasnt happy, then she should be investigated by the Senate for what she said yesterday.

Van is demanding an investigation. If Thorpe backed away from her comments he could have easily let it go. Instead he wants the limelight so you would assume he isnt so stupid that he is begging to be charged.

Instead she backed away. Possibly because she looked up the definition of sexual assault and realised that people saying mean things to her isnt that.

You might be right but it is very uncomfortable to see parliament previlage being weaponised without following a proper legal process with such a serious allegation…which ended up being nothing similar to what she original claimed I.e sexual assualt

If you had been paying attention the past couple of years, especially this week, you would know that the AFP are compromised.

So if you're an employer and two staff say one of the other staff members sexually assaulted them, your reaction is to do nothing until they're found guilty in court? Thats how massive lawsuits happen.

Van hasnt been kicked out of parliament, just that the Liberal Party dont want to be associated with him any more. He has his job and now women know to stay away from him.

The criminal burden of proof is much higher than what is needed for an employer, or decent human for that matter, to take action to remove problems.

You need to read an actual description of sexual assault. Its been referenced in this thread and available online, also Thorpe spoke to this point.

As far I am aware she made the allegations that he said inappropriate things to her , that appears to me to be more sexual harassment than assualt

Regardless, this should go to a Senate Enquiry into the actions of the LNP if the Greens are indeed accusing them of covering up a sexual assault in PH.

They have the powers to gather evidence.
