Vic Lidia Thorpe: Not the subject for every thread!

Seeing as Lidia discussion is cropping up across multiple threads, let's have us a thread for people who want to discuss her contribution to Australian politics.

It should go without saying but seeing as she's a bit of a beacon for controversy - for a variety of reasons - let's just remind ourselves what the board rules are around racism and sexism, shall we?

Standard board rules apply, but let's make this abundantly clear: let's play nicely in here.

Go nuts.

It is still there for all to see. So what?

Dutton is one of the most hated politicians in the country and the Liberals think he can lead them to victory. lol

I was responding to the continued insinuation in here Thorpe is a product of Murdoch media :tearsofjoy:

She's a vile racist. Even labelled a racist by her own father.

In regards to Dutton - I have no love for him at all, but most of you would be the first in with the pitchforks.

I know one thing, the right wouldn't be rewriting history on what sort of person he is like is already being attempted in here.

You can't throw that mud under privilege and then say you don't want to take it further. A police investigation is needed for both parties, he's either sexually assaulted her ruined his own career and is a pig or she's just ruined his career with a lie. It's too late to backpedal now.

Nail. Head.

One of the two need to be run out of politics ASAP.

Dutton's actions have vindicated her.

I think he's essentially standing him down until the outcome of the inevitable enquiry.
With everyting you know about Dutton's career do you think he would concede an inch to someone like Thorpe who he regards as an arch political enemy without there being some real substance behind her allegations? I don't.

If everything you know about the Greens and Thorpe and their animosity to the LNP, do you think they would have just let the LNP simply move Van down the hall (and agreed with that punishment) if he'd sexually assaulted one of their female senate members?

Really?!

Where did you learn everything about the greens and Thorpe?

if available, worthwhile checking the andrew clennell interview on sky regards the new allegation .... couple of points

1. the preacher man and senior liberal figures were told of the incident by the (now) former liberal senator
2. a meeting was organised by senior liberals following the allegations being made - allowing the fmr senator to confront van
3. the fmr senator told van at this meeting if he ever did it again she would "destroy" him and his career

these are allegations being made by liberals

but yeah ... lets questions thorpes integrity .... FFS, pull ya heads out of ya arse

[edit] as a senior lib in the fmr govt, dutton needs to explain what he knew about vans past behaviour ... and when
