Uh.....they do often every summer. Please Don't post lies. Its one of my memories of Iraq. Its often to do with outdated technology of dsitributing the power

They have blackouts, they might have only a few hours per day but they don't have entire provinces down at once. If they did it would have been publicised by now.

That's the point you don't seem to be getting - its unique that an entire state goes out at the same time.

But once Hazelwood goes in favor of windfarms, Victoria will have to get used to it.

You win. Like the SA power network because they are already paying excessive amounts for renewables so they couldn't afford to gold plate the network in fear of upsetting the voters!
We are paying way too much for power regardless if it's coal powered or not. Here in WA with the Barnett government's mismanagement of the states finances, we are now paying a lot more for power due to the Liberal's incompetence.

Personally, I don't give a **** what happens in the USA or the UK for that matter. I live here in Australia.

That's okay. You have the right not to be concerned that an entire state in this country blacks out as the result of a minor storm by hurricane standards.

Even better you have a good chance of getting a Labor government at your next election, so WA too will be able to enjoy the benefits of windfarm energy.

What has it got to do with renewables?

Right wing friend of mine, NTTAWWT, was on the phone within an hours of lights going out telling me how great this was for them.

Cheer up - I have it on good authority from a well connected friend of mine that no less a symbol of the future Kim Jong-un has made a call to his fellow socialist Weatherill wherein he congratulated people of South Australia for joining the people of North Korea in paying homage to the darkness....

Ah, we in the neighbouring state will soon be joining you Gougho, fear not.

This is all to do with economic rationalism, privatisation and the national power grid. Power stations in South Australia were shut down because it was cheaper to generate power at the Victorian coal-fields and send it over a long distance high voltage transmission line. But that's the problem, one transmission line with no backup, contingency or alternative route, because that would be too expensive, right.

So if Old Mother Nature trips over the extension lead the power goes off.

I bet anything they have had entire provinces go down for days before. I'll try looking up an article

Funnily enough because of a piss poor Infrastructure they suffer rolling blackouts as well. Kind of like if the major power lines of a state all went down at once.

Even ISIS has managed to keep the electricity going.

Again a poor and uneducated post and a lack of grasp about the subject. IF your looking for a shock comment here it is. You really have no clue on what you are on about.

Oh okay. So where else in the world that it has happened where an entire state has moved to 40% windpower renewable energy for its power needs resulting in major blackouts culminating in entire state crash?

Please provide link Admiral, Go for it comrade.:thumbsu:

Ok here we go

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_major_power_outages#2016

On September 21, 2016, a full power system collapse occurred on the island of Puerto Rico affecting its 3.5 million inhabitants. The power outage, popularly referred to as the "Apagón" (translated as "super outage") has been labeled as the largest in Puerto Rico history not caused by an atmospheric event. The outage occurred after two transmission lines, with power running up to 230,000 volts, failed. [156]

Sounds similar to SA. 80% fossil fuel reliance. SO looks like When Transmission lines go down, Shit ****s up, Who knew?

Please do: name the provinces of Iraq, where no electricity whatever was available across entire province, just like in state of South Australia.

Yes if course they do and long have. That article of course was 2007 at height of civil war .Strange then, with all those horrors, they never, ever had a whole province going out, don't you think?

Has SA been going through an invasion and an insurgency that moi has somehow missed? Please provide evidence of same.

Pretty simple concept. Distribution network blows out = no power. Renewables or fossil fuel is irrelevant.

Maintenance is always the first victim of any privatised industry... that's an topic that might be worth exploring.

I Don't think it's weird, Because infact they did have an entire province go out?
Kerbala province, south of Baghdad, has been without power for three days,

Did you read the article? It clearly states a province had no power for 3 days, or do you just look at what you want to see?

Also posted a link to Wikipedia where a whole country was without power when a couple of transmission lines went out. Which relies heavily on fossil fuel. But Puerto Rico, What do they know?

Infact, Funnily enough currently also going through a Power outage problems with the old Power plant catching on fire with the Grid then failing. They probably should diversify their power and go for some of those renewables ey?

Don't be so stupid. It was a network failure (transmission towers falling over in high winds, probably a tornado) not a generation side failure. It's very simple concept in engineering. Blaming the wind turbines makes you look stupid.

Does she rage at electric appliances for not working when she knows full well they're not even plugged in? Must do, I guess.

Hurricane Katrina Situation Report #11
August 30, 2005 (4:00 PM EDT)

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Some 2.6 million customers have reported outages due to Hurricane Katrina in Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Florida, and Georgia (see table below). Louisiana reports approximately 890,300 customers without power. Mississippi has about 909,200 customers without power and Alabama has approximately 624,400 customers without power.

I think 2.6 million should cover south Australia.

Just need some facts. Is there another country or state in the world that today, 16 years into the 21st century, relies on 40% wind power for its electricity?

Can you assist?
Missed this, Again a clear quote which shows your lack of understanding. SA's wind power has the capacity to generate upto 40% of SA's power. However it doesn't.
