Shame they cut the clip before Carey added 'but because it's Hawthorn...'

The ball was within 5m. It is irrelevant that he ran past the ball and 'chose to bump'. You can either bump or you can't. AFL needs to make up its mind.Initial impact was shoulder to shoulder; but that is not the point. He intended to bump ignoring the ball therefore the duty of care he affords goes up coz his only intent was not to stop Scott getting the ball but to....
His second infringement against Henry same deal. Again no eyes for the ball. Was trying to.....

Thomas has been persecuted for years and he will not survive these events. The AFL establishment talks a good game on Indigenous reconciliation but it’s narrow - they love the Martin Luther King type (Adam Goodes so lauded you are not even allowed to boo) and the good natured clown with a box full of tricks (little Eddie Betts) but give them a Thomas, with his surliness, physicality, and “cheating” ways and liberal pretensions are put to one side - that black boy is going to be put in his place and it will not be pretty
Tickwhere a player has been reported on the field, the official media should be stopped from editorialising on the incident.
Nothing to do with frustration at the team's performance, I had the same opinion when he played for North Melbourne.
When Hodge or Lewis snipe opponents they are 'tough men that play on the edge'. When Shuey or Selwood duck they are 'tough ball players who go in harder and lower than everyone else'. When Thomas does these things he's a weak prick and a diver. This has been ongoing for literally a decade, it didn't just start on the weekend.
The treatment he gets from the media, opposition supporters, umpires and the tribunal is downright disgraceful and well out of whack with whatever weaknesses people perceive in his on field actions. You can attribute it to whatever you like. I know what I'm attributing it to.
It's excellent to see a couple of Victorian football identities standing up for reason in relation to an incident involving a Port player. Carey and Brown were spot on.
Ling is a long term confirmed campaigner and the fact that Geelong was involved means he should be barred from commenting on the matter.
Whatever Ling has in the way of talent or appeal as a commentator is lost on me. The inherent Geelong bias was too tempting forCameron Ling should be barred from commenting on any matter for any reason.
I have absolutely no problem with Thomas getting a suspension for this act. The problem I have, and have had for some time, is the way in which the MRP system can and is manipulated. Leaving this part of the system to the discretion of a panel, let alone a panel of one, is very easily corrupted. This is even clearer when you see Christian's crafting to keep Burton from penalty, while sending Thomas straight to the tribunal (with the threat of a harsher penalty than should be applied).
The only answer is to abolish the MRP in its current form. It is transparently corruptable.
I would also suggest that where a player has been reported on the field, the official media should be stopped from editorialising on the incident. The blatant lobbying for a penalty in this case has been disgusting.
Interesting that they think he is questioning the individual integrity of Michael Christian.Shame they cut the clip before Carey added 'but because it's Hawthorn...'
The Burton explanation was amazing. Christian said Burton couldn't have foreseen accidental head contact when he chose to bump. Well neither could Robbie Gray have foreseen accidental shoulder contact then. Or even Richard Douglas (I still don't know how he contacted Merrett's head).
Apparently the head isn't a potentially damaging body part like the shoulder. The term Liverpool Kiss is a complete misnomer.
Forearm/elbow first then shoulder then head all very quickly. Its why Christian said its not intentional as you are allowed to bump when the ball is less than 5m away, which it was, but if you make head high contact, you pay a price.I haven't read back on the whole thread, but simple question, did Lindsay actually make contact with the head of Scott Selwood in the first bump? The only replay they had of it on AFL app, shows no head contact. I'm guessing there is probably another angle out there I haven't seen yet

Did Merret go off concussed for the rest of the game?It should be treated exactly the same as Richard Douglas on Zac Merrett.

We where shit last Saturday night.Give Lindsay some credit, he wasnt gonna play again this week but to take out both of the ferret Selwood's in one match needs some congratulations, if only some other players showed some aggression we mightn't be a soft lot of you know what
