Don't know how anyone here could so easily tee off and prescribe harsh punishments on a story like this that is changing by the second.

I know the cumulative weight of recent happenings at the club has everyone on edge but geez, settle down. The race to make the most outlandish and grandiose statements always amuses me.
I stand by what I said, if it was found any of our boys had done something like this then I would be after blood.

That being said, this is turning into a circus.

I so hope the victim is just some Machiavellian rugby league devotee...

Wouldn't want to believe anyone would do this.

It's as if the Footy Gods are treating us like they were pulling wings off a butterfly :(

Days since last good news was ??

Update from club:

The Brisbane Lions today have made internal inquiries regarding an alleged incident that took place early on Sunday evening.

The Club takes these allegations extremely seriously.

The Club notes significant discrepancies in the versions of events reported to media at various times and those provided to Queensland Police and the Club.

The Club can confirm that a number of its players were in the area near where the alleged incident took place.

The Club’s inquiries, however, have not found any evidence that its players acted in an unlawful manner towards the gentleman concerned.

The Club can confirm a player, Daniel Rich, wheeled the gentleman some metres towards a taxi rank, however, at no stage was this action intended to cause the gentleman any distress or harm.

At this stage there is no evidence to support other claims made in the media today.

In the car this morning: "Lions player seriously assaults disabled man pushing him out of his wheelchair, abusing him, throwing kebabs at him and then stealing his taxi".

Now: "wheeled the gentleman some metres towards a taxi rank".

Sounds promising.

I'd be happier if the statement denied Rich called him any names, or yelled 'wheelchair' or anything like that, but maybe there are issues with being too specific.

Something must have happened...but biased as this will sound, I genuinely cannot see Richy acting in such a cold and callous way. That is not his way...he's a very quiet, quietly living type person..

..I'm thinking a giant misunderstanding of the sequence of events...the wheelchair man may have been scared as things accidently happened, and misconstrued intentions etc...

..however, with gritted teeth, we must wait and see what unfolds.

(god, when will this all end....I want to rewind back a month!:( )

Same thing, no? :)

Who knows what the player/players really did but there are plenty of gold-hunters out there.
There are many opportunists that would look forward to extract a little hush money from people they think may just have too much money on their hands.

Don't trust anyone. Players know this but sometimes it takes an actual situation to come about for them to fully understand it.

Even with this new information, Ch 7 news just had a splash across the opening music that a player assaulted someone, and had several clips of Daniel Rich.

Bold move, Cotton.

The highlight has been seeing a few of Richies goals on prime time.

News 24 reported the allegation and also said the Lions had completed an investigation and found nothing untoward.

No wonder no one watches the ABC. Too obsessed with balanced reporting at the Auntie. BORING!

Meanwhile Ch7 managed to throw in a comment about the Saints / dwarf / fire incident in the same report, and linked them by saying this bloke was vulnerable too. Great reporting.
