List Cloggers?

okay.

this is my opinion.

he is shit now & i cant see him improving. hes a top tenner FFS. he should have showed something by now, at least a bit more than a match winning behind. im sure he's not a shit bloke, but i dont care. its not his personality we should judge him on, its his ability. or lack thereof. i was so dissappointed when we took him at number 8, i really was. i knew straight away what was going to happen. i am not an overly racist person, but in my opinion i dont think that we needed another slow developing skinny aboriginal kid. i hope for the sake of the RFC that he does develop. good on him if he does. i dont hate him as a person or anything like that, i moreso resent that we even selected him in the first place.

and im not a truck driver either, hack. the only shit-truck here is you.

I wouldn't say they were list cloggers they serve just as much a purpose inthe 2s keeping the standards higher and are still good enough to play AFL. If we have a run of injuries it gives us a bit of depth that could still keep us in contention for finals

IF IF we had any injuries then Tiv would be getting a run cos his form in the VFL has been excellent
he's not in our best starting team but

one has the respect of the entire AFL world and the other is "trying hard" to keep his AFL career going at Coburg....me thinks there is a slight difference....fool. ;)

the point is that Garry Lyon seems to hate anyone that isn't get Brownlow votes

the point is that one holds the record for games played at a club, has shouldered the burden of their FL, like Richo has for us, for a decade, etc etc and has now hung up the boots because he cant keep going.
And commanded a guard of honour from both teams and a standing ovation by his peers and supporters.
The other has over the stretch provided comedy to all and sundry, held his spot in a shit side, purely by default, etc etc., and maybe will command a one line, 4 word comment in a remote corner of a newspaper when he hangs them up.
The end. ;)
 
Sorry to write off-topic, which is obviously JON, but just thought I'd point out that Garry Lyon's article was in the Herald Sun, not the Age, and it can be found here:

Some posters should read it because they are clearly missing Lyon's point - he is NOT talking about kids who haven't come on as quick as expected (although some expectations here are seriously deluded). He's talking about more experienced players who might have 2-3 more years in them but are just doing their job week to week, not helping us in the long-term - they might be playing well enough to justify a spot in the team but all they are really doing is holding up the development of the Putts and Rances of the world.
In that definition Tivendale is clearly our No.1 clogger. Hyde would be a close 2nd which is why they are trying to find a specific role for him as a tagger (he's been hot and cold in that job, jury still out).
Other potential "cloggers" are players that might not be that old but have been given enough chances but haven't taken them and might never, so it's time to move aside and give another kid a chance. Jay Schulz could fall into this category if he doesn't show something soon.
The good sign for us is we don't have too many players who fit either category which means our list is pretty well placed. Lyon clearly had a team like St Kilda in mind, which has dozens of players like Fiora, Birss, Schneider, Charlie Gardiner etc etc etc who are just holding up the development of their kids (if they have any).

Minor point worth noting. If Tiv was such a list clogger how come he is still there 4 years after Wallace took over as coach? We must have had a seriously clogged list eh! Its all relative. He might look like one now but 4 years ago he was no where near it. Soft targets for Lyons, pick guys at the end of their career, if he wants to be a sage why not predict our future cloggers. The other question is, why Richmond? No cloggers in any other side. There are cloggers in premiership sides, not all in a side are elite, special or stars etc. Have a look at West Coast with the training wheels off when 18 months ago they looked unbeatable. A few cloggers there now appearing Bottom line is Tiv was a much needed player where we were at for the past 4 year sand he has managed 150+ games in our jumper. For that from me he gets respect let alone the way he has handled himself now at Coburg.
 
TT, he did mention cloggers for most of the sides out of the 8 at the moment, all except Port. And of the teams he listed, Richmond had one of the least. I think it says more about how much our list management had improved over the last few years. We had about 13 list cloggers that Plough moved on in his first year at the club.

whats your opinion on cogs...is he a list clogger?

cos to me sadly and im being realistic, it seems that as soon as he gets fit that we will put a "for trade" sign around his neck
i cant see him playing for richmond again....which saddens me deeply

So developing players is an unfounded theory.... by the way Paddy Bowden was let go last year, someone with such a great knowledge of our list should probably know that.

Hyde is allowing Johnson to play more attacking... suppose you want Johnson gawn as well.
Jackson is a Back up Player... and clubs do need depth to cover injuries or would you rather us have 22 players and that's it.
Meyer will make you look like the D^&K head you are.
Tivendale is showing GREAT leadership in the 2's and yes he;s best is behind him but his Value is not. The last few years there wasn't anyone better, him playing for Coburg show's our list is getting better.

Since TW has been there we have delisted young players not up to it.. Peterson being one.
