Yup spot on.Yeah, I've been reflecting a bit on this especially regarding going out in straight sets last year.
Sure, the team didn't play well and the young guns in the midfield didn't show up but in previous incarnations of our football teams, it is not usually two 23 year olds who have to carry the full load in their first full year in the midfield together. There would be a couple of stalwarts in there and they would come in as the 3rd or 4th banana and then work their way up.
The majority of our talent is under 26, I think Houston is 26, and we really should be getting games into the younger guys and sorting the men out from the boys not playing Dixon and Boak.
Hinkley has no idea what he is doing.
Daicos is a gun. Doesn’t mean he doesn’t benefit from the senior bodies around him.
With Mead, Drew, Rozee, Butters, Bergmann and JHF driving our midfield with inexperienced rucks in Soldo, Sweet and Visentini, we’ve North Melbourned our midfield and demanded a lot of them. Asking them to be better or carry the team week on week is a recipe for disaster. Wines is still getting a run but no Boak, no SPP, no DBJ, no Rioli - no big senior bodies. This is a serious weakness in the list and flaw in coaching of Carr and Hinkley.
