That’s some nice spin, but actually you wrote that you wanted Worpel to get injured.

“Best thing Worpel could do right now is his hamstring, which would force Sam to plug Chad in the guts for the rest of the game.”
Yes that was black comedy, but it went well over many heads here.

As if i would actually wish an injury on any player, any team.

Still I was banished, sought clarification which was never provided, and did my time.

I read the BF rules (again)!as a result, and didn’t find anything in there was actually infringed.

Yet multiple posters here are allowed to attack and derogate others, not just me, (in breach of those same rules) and those posts and posters remain.

Seems odd.

🤷‍♂️

Was it?

Wingard for Burton, Duursma and Tom Joyce ... The Burton part is more or less nullified by picking up Scrimhaw for nothing in the same trade period, Joyce is now on Brisbane's list and hasn't played a game and Duursma isn't exactly setting the world alight. Given our issues are in the midfield, how would not trading for Wingard have us in better stead? Also, check out the picks in that draft post Duursma. There's literally no-one that would change our fortunes.

Even with Wingard's injuries, we're still doing fine on that trade.

Hindsight always makes everything look easy. However - using hindsight I would have been happier trading Burton for Port's first rounder in isolation if he wasn't fitting in at the club culturally and then drafting Butters and Rowbottom (selected a few picks after Duursma). And none of that is anti-Chad but purely I would prefer to have two young players now that we know we are rebuilding.

Report the posts that you think should be removed.

Hoping a HFC player gets injured is not ever funny in these parts.

In general, I agree with you. I'm pro the Wingard trade, I just accept that people can look at it now and see it as the wrong move and where we may have given up too much but that they can only do that with the benefit of hindsight.

In Ned's trade, it requires Port to be willing to give up pick 12 for Burton, which we don't know if they would have. That's not really something you can look back at in hindsight and suggest we should have done as it's out of our control. So coming back to the Wingard trade, we need to look at it from the point of if we did make it versus if we didn't, not a completely different trade. And from that point, at this very moment, looking back, I fail to see how we paid too much.

It’s a shame Downie, Mitchell and Saunders are all injured, as they are essentially fighting for a new contract.

Mitchell is the only one that has shown some glimpses this year here and there. Sadly, I think that Downie and Saunders will be delisted.

I feel like Downie has shown a bit over the two years he's been on the list, but I think it's also obvious that he has lost a heap of confidence in the clinches. Wouldn't be surprised if he was offered a one year rookie contract, but I agree that I think Saunders is gone.

I still think downie is worth pushing on with, for two reasons;
  • he can kick a footy so like suckling a slow burn that may pay off.
  • we can’t delist a player we gave his first game to as sub and never played.

I’ve always thought players like downie fare better at afl level due to vfl woes but he does seem lacking in want for the hard ball

Seamus would’ve been a great replacement for Bramble for the back end of the year, had he not already been ruled out for the season.

Downie played last season against the Bulldogs in the win down in Tassie.

Played okay too then got dropped.

I am hoping Morris gets a full game in the back pocket and does well which then gives us option to move Hardwick into the midfield and do a potential Laird......

Laird was a prolific ball winning HBF. Hardwick has never shown that he has that ability, as good as he is.

fair enough.

He doesn't need to be prolific though. He has great hands, very neat kick and is tough over and around the ball. Id like to see what he offers further up the field as a potential goal kicking mid. 20+ disposals, 6+ tackles and goal a game average would be handy. We do need some hardness around the ball and cant expect a rookie (duke) to do all the heavy lifting.

But, I suspect Sam doesn't see him in the mix as they would have tried already, unfortunately.

The Hun's view

WHO’S OUT OF CONTRACT
Ben McEvoy, Connor Downie, Daniel Howe, Emerson Jeka, Harry Morrison, Jack Gunston, Jack Saunders, Jackson Callow, Kyle Hartigan, Liam Shiels, Seamus Mitchell, Tom Phillips, Tyler Brockman.
WHO’S ELIGIBLE FOR FREE AGENCY
Ben McEvoy (restricted free agent)
Daniel Howe (restricted free agent)
Jack Gunston (unrestricted free agent)
Liam Shiels (unrestricted free agent)

They think we should be targetting Amon, Josh Dunkley and Weiderman

Certainties to not be on the list in 2023:

1. Shiels
2. Hartigan

Chopping block:
Downie
Howe
Jeka
Saunders
Callow
Mitchell
Phillips

Def keep if they want to stay:
Brockman
McEvoy

If we want 6 new spots on the list and 4 more players have to be delisted, this is my choice:
Howe
Callow
Phillips

then trade:
Brockman (against my will only if he wants out)
Gunston (get him a superannuation deal)

Ned Ryerson do the thing.

I find it extremely difficult to believe Daniel Howe is a restricted free agent...
