Swap him out for Callow?

I don't know if Greene can make it at the next level. Is he quick enough for a medium forward?

I think he lacks the second efforts and the defensive side that a medium forward needs to have to make it at AFL level. Definitely doesn’t lack footy smarts

Had his cracked at AFL level and not quite good enough. I think he'll be one of those players that are great at the second level, but not quite good enough at the top level. Couldn't see him fitting into our forward line.

I think he would find the ball on quick transition in an open forward line when the defence is out of position.

He’d struggle though when the forward line is congested or when a defender is on him.

The AFL got rid of it just as our best players became veterans that would have given us room to recruit more players. Steve Hocking tried to get it back before he moved to Geelong.

Gunston signed the deal when he was an AA and big boy was captain of the club. I reckon it's around the mark.

There have been so much rejigging of contracts since then based on changes to our cap with the movement of players.

I'd imagine they would have front ended his contract like they would have done with Punky otherwise he would be a restricted FA which he is not.

Didn't (according to the story) Clarko only approach scum yesterday?

Gunston hasn't signed all year.

Not suggesting it’s been a long con - more that he’s had a good run of form of late and maybe the club wanted to get him stitched up but recent developments would possibly change that.

I think his old man dying has probably taken precedence over anything else. If he is to leave he is not going interstate and leaving his mum alone. Gunners will most likely resign

I hope he stays - but as much as I hate * you couldn’t begrudge him going there due to the family connection.

Yep the club would be shattered and blindsided if he walked away. Talks have been positive for both sides.

I believe an offer has been put to Jack. A mutually acceptable offer. He is considering it or “retirement”.

I too believe he will re-sign. But, things change.

Can't see Gunston leaving. He's had a pretty good season considering that we are an inconsistent rebuilding team, he's had a personal family tragedy and that he's come back from a very long injury layoff.

I also wouldn't begrudge him a move to another club to see out his career if that's what he wanted to do.

HedgeFund talking absolute sense. Big Boy still clearly our best ruck when available, but at 33 years age and 250 games wear and tear the time is right for him to ride off into the sunset.

Agree. Need to keep both for these next couple seasons. It's that next group down - Mitchell, O'Meara, Wingard - who we should be looking to move on (again) if we can get decent value. Need to lower our expectations from last year though.

I love Big Boy - but the difference in service to our midfielders and their ability to control the game this year has been very different with Reeves in the ruck versus when Reeves has been injured. I’m surprised people still doubt Reeves’ ability to be our primary ruck.
