I know a few posters have already said this, but I absolutely cringe with the disrespect shown by some posters to many of our hawthorn players from stars (Mitchell) to battlers (Callow) and everyone in between.

It is extraordinarily hard to get on an AFL list and more players don't make it than do.

We all have an opinion on whether a player should stay or go, and that's fine, but lets also acknowledge they have given a period of their life to the mighty Hawks where they have busted a gut to take us forward.

Maybe a better way to phase your views changes the whole debate.

Good luck to all those leaving and thank you for your time with us.

you are so right. I love watching the journey for each player, hope for the very best and thank them for their blood and sweat.

So was this Hartigan announcement delayed compared to the last lot of announcements because we were still looking to see if we'd need him next year? The implication being that we've found a replacement.
I think the Hawks and Hartigan were unsure of his contract length. They needed time to figure out whether he signed for two or three years 🤷

Hopefully the decision to move on 3 players who can play wing is partly bringing in Amon but partly giving more opportunities to the running defenders to better balance our best 22. Would love to see day and CJ and maybe even bramble rotating through as defensive wingers who can break lines but also support our back 6.

Wingard to outside midfielder, please and thank you!

Bramble is not defensive.

But needed, Clarko keep dragging in recycled players past it.

All 2 of them?

Were you against us bringing in a battered and worn out Burgoyne at age 28 with his shot knees?

What did Hartigan cost us in salary, draft picks and list management?

If Gunston and Mitchell go we will have almost zero leadership next year. Ia that a good thing?

Stop perpetuating that myth, we have O'Meara, Sicily, Lewis, Moore, Breust and Worpel who have all been part of the leadership group or displayed/been praised for leadership qualities at some point during their career.

The last 5 years of Clarkson was extremely costly to the success of our club, that is now a fact now, move on...

Worpel cant get a game. Lewis and Moore have had one good season.

You think they are our senior leadership ?

Yeah lets go extreme and throw all logical thought and reason out the window. Get over Clarkson, you've been slammed in about 10 seconds in two threads about it.

It's sad and desperate, just move on.

Going into the 2021 offseason we had one afl standard kpd on the list. Frost. Sicily was out injured with an acl injury. Anyone who thinks hartigan was a bad deal at a cost of nothing, has rocks in their head. We quickly addressed the dire state of kpd on our list adding dgb and blank. We have also discovered jeka can play there. And Sicily is back. So time to move Kyle on.

Rightly or wrongly Sam does. Said as much at the inside the huddle event.

Like it or not, we are now a young team and the like of Lewis and Moore are viewed as relatable leaders going forward much like Sam was in 2008. It is important to maintain culture by not cleaning out too many old boys but leadership isn't dependent on age.

Dylan isn't Sam and may never be but Sam took over as captain in 2008 after 6 season and just over 100 games. It was his 4th season he entered the discussion as an elite player and his 5th where he really emerged with 13 votes in the brownlow.

If you exclude 2017 when he didn't play, his 4th season (this year) people started using the word elite and he really emerged as a very good player. In 2 years time Dylan could have played 90+ games in 6 seasons and transitioned to full time mid and who knows how he progresses

Good luck in your next steps Kyle. Loved the energy and aggression he brought to the team. Gave Porkins ear a good old 120 minute massage.

It wasn't a stellar defense but a defense with Hartigan and Frost was always good value to watch.

Well done Harry.

When we are past out best yes, i am with Sam Mitchell and bringing in more youth. Amons (27) a quality free agent and still has 5 years left in him.
