That's an impressive list for the kokmeister's `little old blue collar club from Alberton', but geez I must be an old campaigner, the only player on that entire list who I definitely never saw play was Bob Quinn.

Dick Russell I'm not sure of, I probably would have attended some of his games in the early 50's but have no recollection of them, as I would have either been sleeping like a baby or maybe even having a typical toddler's dummy spit, and lost concentration on the game. ;)

As the old saying goes `hindsight is a wonderful thing,' but obviously I should have known better!

How the hell has Jonas made the squad 3 times?
My take on it is Jonas wasn't shit (though he's clearly past it the last couple of seasons and shouldn't be Captain), but defenders are harder to evaluate than other positions.

Rucks, midfielders and forwards the impact can largely be seen in the numbers (of course they don't tell the whole picture). Defense these days is lots of zoning, midfielders flooding back, team defense etc. This makes it harder to nail down 'This defender was good/bad'.

So how the team as a whole did defensively plays a big part. Ken's teams have always prioritised defense, so our score against has always been good. Sure it may have been at the expense of actually having enough players further up the ground to score ourselves, but in isolation it's looked good. So then 'Well Port has a stingy defense, whose their main defender / leader back there?' has come into it, to help push his name up the list.

As I said Jonas wasn't shit prior to the last couple of years, but there'd have been more than half a dozen better KPD's each year he made the squad IMO.

Jonas is a hard, tough old style defender that has been great at 3rd man up. He does a lot of hard stuff that most people miss.

But the wear and tear of playing him out of his weight division and crashing so many packs to support other undersized KPDs has just caught up with him. All those years he made the AA squad were deserved. He has a contract for next year but to me he is in that 19th to 27th type player on the list.

lol at us finishing top by 3 games in '03 and only having 2 players in the team.
The same in 2004, but Brisbane got 3 in 2003 and then 5 in 2004.
