Langsworth went from Lara to Portarlington with Lynch when he took over as Ports coach. Where has he been since?

Edenhope I understand... as coach

it would be fair to say that langsworth would have come to leopold to renew acquaintances with lynchy, will bring some more experience to the side but not sure exactly what he will bring to the table in playing terms...

I played junior footy with him at grovie he's since gone on to win a flag with belmont. This will expand he's already gigantic head but he was also very stiff not to win the best on ground medal in the grand final.

Brad edwards is one who was one of the better gdfl players that never set the set the gfl on fire. Altough that probably had more to do with dedication than anything else.

I think you'll find that although Bagga was instrumental in Belmonts 07 flag, he played at Grovie that year. Let's hope he can be part of a successful year in 09 :thumbsu:

i remember brad edwards playing a major part in getting the grovedale 2;s further advanced into last years finals when he kicked a 55m goal on siren. has never really played senior gfl footy from what i know, definitely has the ability, was he a bit player at belmont or an influential player?

yeah against us in a qualifying final got a 50m penalty, ran up and slotted it through from 55 out as the siren went, they won the game by 3 points, was a really good goal

I remember that.. still got the story in the Addy from it..

A stunning 55-metre after-the-siren bomb propelled Grovedale to a thrilling three-point victory over North Shore in Saturday’s reserve grade qualifying final at Skilled Stadium.

With the Tigers three points down and less than 10 seconds left in the match, Brad Edwards marked defensive side of centre-wing.

A late indiscretion from his North Shore opponent resulted in a 50m penalty, which took Edwards to just outside the 50m line.

Sensing little time remaining, the young Tiger launched a towering bomb, as the siren sounded instantaneously with the kick.

The ball landed beyond the pack of players on the goal line, handing the Tigers a stirring come-from-behind victory and a place in next week’s semi final against Leopold.

“I was going to dish it off, but thank god I didn’t, otherwise it would have been a dead ball, so just happy to get good connection on it and it went through,” Edwards said.

“It swung late, it swung left to right, so it was probably above goal post height before I knew it was in, so thank god it did, otherwise it would have been a big downer.

Edwards said his match winning heroic act was the highlight of his career so far.

“Definitely. I won an under 18 championship going back three years and I’ve had the opportunity to kick a goal after the siren a few times, and they’ve all missed, so I’m just glad to get one in finally,” he said.

Captain Brad Hauenstein said the victory gave the side tremendous confidence ahead of its clash with Leopold next week for a place in the grand final.

“Both teams (Grovedale and North Shore) went at each other all day and in the end it was just one of those unlucky ones for them (North Shore) and lucky ones for us, one kick and the ball wins the game,” he said.

“We played them (Leopold) once before and beat them ok, but they’re going to be out on their best and hopefully we’ll be able to come up to the challenge.”

yeah it was a cracking goal but the next week against leopold he missed probably 2 chances from 20m out, which possibly could have squeezed grovie into grand final. big game player....

More likely gone there because of Cam Wright. they would be paying decent $$ for him. Good player through the midfield. Interesting he didn't go back to Lara, as he still has quite a few mates there. In playing terms, he is a hard hitting midfielder, and that is good for any team.

alarm bells gfls biggest recruit in years josh huge dont know where hes from but understand he is signed with leopold, apparently massive unit!

news always takes a few extra days to travel into geelong from out there! havnt heard alot but apprently paul minnie and micah allan are heading back there and they've signed peter wilkonson who played for grovie and bell park. Was a top ruckmen but is a bit long in the tooth now and hasnt played for maybe 3-4 years.

Coach is devon sproule who is matt sproules old man. Dont know alot about him or his credentials but apprently coached with a bit of success in either the ballarat, riddell or central highlands league? anyone know who exactly he coached?

havnt heard who modda have lost although i know leigh anderson has gone to bell park. I cant work out why they never seem to be able to recruit many decent players, coz as anyone who's ever played there or knows people out there would know, there a great club with good volunteers and top blokes to play with.

Good point tim, since Brad Davis has been gone from senior coach of the club, it has gone from strength to strength. Apparently cared about about no one but the old boys out there and did nothing to help promote the younger talented ones coming through!!! GO WARRIORS

Speaking to a mate the other day and he was talking about St. Albans new recruits? A few from Werribee, few from Lara... Does anyone have a list of players that they have supposely picked up?

Jack Kennedy Hunt? Sam Stavenuter? Simon Potter? Any others??

heard from a realiable source that kennedy-hunt is playing for south adelaide next year, not sure bout any other werribee or lara players goin there but it seems as if they've picked up potter and watts. But if there hanging there hats on them 2 as there big recruits for 2009 the super saints will be in for a long year.

I know its very early but does anybody wanna have a crack at how the gfl ladder may look after round 18 next year?
