Here is a rumour that floated across my desk this morning...

"Hillshan" from Bell Park was seen at the Eureka Back Bar at approx 1 am looking a little bit worse for wear, the evening went out and "Hillshan" kept on drinking, then the body decided enough was enough and something had to make way... With one hand on the pool table and the other nursing a red bull and vodka the stomach gave way and proceeded to projectile vomit out about 3 litres of vodka... It seems Hillshan felt walking 5 metres to his left was totally unnecessary and he would continue that job right where he was.

Can anyone confirm or deny?
Conformation cam the bruce, on the money!!! Then watched the poor glassy mop it up!!!

Is there any truth in the rumour that there was a bit of biff last night at BC's between Torquay and Newcomb? My mail has it that the BC's had to be shut down to as these two foes duked it out!
Not only was it Torquay and Newcomb at the BC Wild, there was also Ocean Grove 2's and a few Bell Post Hill boys in on the action makes for an interesting evening. Reports have just come in that a well known Ocean Grove premiership seconds player is now forced to write a written statement to a lolly shop in town as he stole a bag of coke bottle lollies. If this statement isn't in by tomorrow charges will be pressed. Poor by him

Just wondering C7 was this the end of Hillshan's night or did he regain his composure to hunt down a Mrs Hillshan on the Eureka dancefloor. I do believe his last words to me that day before going out were "I'm not going home til I get myself a bitch." I do believe he has the ability to put projectile vomiting behind himself and push on...

No No No Young Pres this was just the beginning!!! The great man walked up to the bar and 'reloaded' with another pencil special (Vodka Redbull). Not sure on how he went with the ladies but a certain Bell Park policeman spotted him and the pencil at KFC at about three in the morning. You know what they say Young Pres, A spew is just the cue to get to the bar for another. Hillshan - hats off to you:thumbsu: :thumbsu:

Don't know if too many of you gents were invited last night to the GFL's second night of nights……. The GFL Reserves Team of the Year. The night was held at the luxurious Italian Club out on the Bellarine highway and it really was a “who’s who” affair. The team was heavily represented by South Barwon players however a big congratulations must go to a young gun of the Reserves competition Tommy "T-Factor" Peeters from Bell Park, who was named joint deputy vice captain with John “Jesus” Long. This is Tom’s first All-Geelong honour and certainly is a tremendous achievement at such a young age. Tom will led this rep team against the combined Sunshine and Footscray team later in the month. Thank goodness this lad you call “Hillshan” was not in attendance as behaviour like his at such a prestigious event would not have been tolerated.

Wild are you giving away this weeks Johno's Jibes early in the week? or have you got something else up your sleave?

any up dates with the senior coaching possies with any gfl clubs?

Apparently the main ones are:
Glenn Keast and possibly Trav Robertson - Newtown
Riccardi as an assistant at GWSP with possibly Paul Lynch.
Nath Saunders either Bell Park or GWSP but more likely GWSP.
Bell Park will announce their new coach on the 28th of Sept. Only 3 people including the new coach know who it is. Huge name apparently who will be a massive drawcard.
Lara is set to do some massive recruiting from the GDFL and VFL Werribee clubs with names like Jimmy Allen, Sleeman and Podsiadly thrown up.
Mensch new coach at Grovedale.
The Torquay coach is supposed to be heading to Bell Post Hill but he denies it.
A local junior coach has been linked to the senior position at Blue West.

Is the local junior coach Ben Hovey from the Bell Park under 10's going to Blue West?

No C7 apparently bigger things await this Ben Hovey fellow. Word is that the mighty Melbourne Demons are looking to employ Hovey in some kind of mentoring role for its younger players. He apparently already has a good relationship with Russell Robertson and the likes of Aaron "Flash" Davey have been requesting his presence. Good luck to the bloke.

Glen Keast was set to sign with Newtown last week, but the North Shroe job became availible for 2007 so he put his decision on hold for a week. Apparently he was set to make his decision last night.....anybody know the result????

If Ben goes to Melbourne, what happens to his coaching staff who (apparently) did an amazing job with the young lads this year. Further, what happens to the young boys who tried their hearts out all year and now lose coaches to bigger and better things, a young boy from the woods will be pleased to hear the news about the coaches leaving for bigger and better things though. Maybe C7 and tomma could help us out, even cam the bruce could lend a hand.......

Changing the subject a little bit here:-

WHO will be this weeks all important winners???

Sth. Barwon should beat Colac like they did in the qualifying final you would think, and play Joey's in the grannie, but funnier things have happened...

and Bannockburn should put up a pretty good fight against an unbeaten Thomson, Thomson should win it, but lets hope they havent caught the dreaded 'Corio Cold' and lose a grand final after an unbeaten season...

Brad Sholl was linked with Newtown but apparently St. Albans have thrown the coin at him, along with some Hampden players.
Nath Saunders! That would be huge Young Pres! Still a great player in the VFL. GWSP have been saving during the past couple of years and have a fair bit of money in reserve but could they afford Riccardi, Lynch and Saunders?
Lara have pretty much signed Sleeman for next year but Podsiadly and Allen have also had offers from Sth Australian clubs. They are however chasing a few more Werribee and Williamstown players...
Adam Skrobalak going to BPH? Actually heard that Nath Lewis is tempting a few of the North Shore boys across if Keast accepts the North Shore spot.
Good luck to Hook if he does accept the coaching spot at Blue West. A few of his ex-BP boys are running around there... lets hope he can get some more quality players there as well.. oh.. actually, James Walker from Newcomb is apparently 'already there', along with Queenscliff's Nick Albutt and Angleseas Paul Messar!
Who are $t. Mary'$ going to scalp this year in hope of buying a premiership. I would think Cail, Bye and McLean would've been enough!

Sth vs Colac will be a brutal game. South Barwon have had a tough past month, not to mention the game against Joeys last week. However, I reckon they are too strong and experienced then Colac who have a relatively young list.

GDFL, Thomson easily. Banno get Woods back this week but there are injury clouds over Giles and Clinton Shaw isn't playing due to a broken foot. Thomson with the week off will do it comfortably.

What did people think about the team of the year?

Greaves played under 10games for the year and was given full foward and Captain of the side???
Tim McLean was the leading goal kicker for the comp from Centre Half Forward however couldn't get the nod. Seems a bit strange. Obviously Jack Crapsas was involved in the selection as it was the same old names getting a game.
Some other selections up for debate~
*A six man bench?? What fanciful league does this happen in!
*Peter O'Brien on the wing? Has anyone heard of this guy?
*Dan Madden in the ruck? Surely not!
*Scott Thompson in the back pocket? This is his 2nd selection and I am still yet to see the guy get a kick?
*Luke Forbes in a back bocket? Had a great year no doubt but back pocket??
*Tom Gilligan in the forward pocket? Did he kick a goal all year?
*Damien Harrington ahead of Sam Chapman?
*No mention of Daniel Lowther who had a super year kicking just under 40 goals from on the ball.

Your thoughts boys?

Once again another comprehensive and intelligent post, Wild John. I agree pretty much with everything you've said there. Although I do think Dan Madden had a pretty good year and deserved a spot. Perhaps instead of having whatever ****ers they have picking the team it could be a decision made by the club coaches or something similar. Congratulations to Jason "Giggaloff" Graham on making the team also. Not bad for a bloke who missed some games and even played one in the 2s.

first of all let me just congratulate wildjohn on a supreme first up week of posting! got the balance just rite between humour and fact, great to have you on board!

i'm lead to believe jack crapsas picks the entire team so i wouldnt expect anything less from a man of his intelligence. i too agree with just about all of the points you have made and thought the biggest mistake was the overlooking of daniel "pump it" lowther. without his input alone bell park would have finished alot lower on the ladder. he did some amazing things out of the guts and was given very close attention from opposition nearly every week. only thing i would pull you up on is scott thompson. i agree that his first selection could have been a little premature but the kid can play. probably not the most aesthetically gifted player ive seen but seems to get the job done. lets not forget he's only 20 odd years of age and holds down a key position in the back half for the ladder leaders (most of the year sorry whispers). apart from that great summary wild john keep up the good work.

Agree with all besides the Peter O'Brien comment. Polled the most votes for Grovedale in the league B and F! Was a champion player and vice captain of the Springvale side during 2002-03 and even made it into a team of the year! Played consistantly all year and will be a huge player for the Tigers next year!

I'm wrapt for you Benchwarmer that you know who Peter O'Brien is however your point that he polled the most votes for Grovedale means little when the guy didn't finish in the top 15 for the league. There were others who polled higher than O'Brien, I'm sure he'l lhave a ripper year next year for the tigers, however if you were going to take him over Lowther from Bell Park I would be very surprised.

Also Peter O'Brien was also on Collingwood's list in 1997 not sure when he started and finished there though. He is currently building my house too, top bloke.

Agree WildJohn... Probably a few more players that could've been placed ahead of O'Brien. As you say Lowther but also Aaron Hassestt from Lara, Matt Miller from St. Joeys starting on the ground? Maybe they thought they needed to throw a Grovedale player in there so there wouldn't be complaints...

If Aaron Greaves can play 10 games and captain the side, why cant number 23 and 28 from the Dragon Wwagon feature in the team of the year. #28 (not sure of his name) had a steller year, before letting it slip towards the end. But remeber round 3, he played on Fopiani and actually sliced him up, through the stomach and lungs. And #23, is this kid the fastest player over 20 metres in the league? He almost won Bell Park the game against Leopold when all seemed lost, the small forward sparked the game alight with blistering speed? Comments/Feedback........???
