Just looking at the transfer list from footy geelong and noticed that St Marys have rejected 8 players from leaving. So this got me thinking ,what grounds do clubs have these days for not letting players go? I think if there going to other leagues the clubs have no choice.

Surely the best way would be to wish the player luck and hope that he may return some day and part on good terms. How will that player perform week to week when he's pissed off with the club or even stop the player from playing at all..

I agree with you i regards to letting them go and hope they return. But i think you will find most players that get rejected and have to stay end up getting over it and playing as they normally would

Blinky:Are the little legs of Mark Cheel still running around in the Geelong league?

Not sure Blinky. I think he may have finshed up last year. Did you play with Chichen Hawk at some stage?

All are good senior footballers  , you must not watch Centrals much.

Your right, I have only seen Centrals play once, in a praccy, about two years ago. BUT, with names like shannon, tobin, mayberry, gilham, Now they all played for the Western Jets at TAC cup level. Add calbert and cornish, all would be in the first 18 of any GDFL side.

herd that stewart is staying at newcombe and that manning from north geelong and ferguson from north shore going to newcombe manning probably one of the best goal kicking wingman in geelong he will give you 60 to 70 goals for the year and ferguuson probably the quickest onballer in the comp couple of handy pick ups for newcombe

Leopold are in for a big year
Geelong west have picked up big names but may still struggle
Lara will finish bottom 3
Drysdale will be top3 with big name recruits
Ocean grove would of started close to favorites but from all reports have a lost a heap
Anglesea need to do something but havent heard much about them.

For all you followers of Werribee Centrals, the rumour is they will have 55 plus training on the track this Thursday (not including under 18's).

That has to be the worst rumour of all time, as my source claims they have never had any more than 25 at one time including U18's.
Are you sure Auskick hasn't started early?

Dont know where you get your rumours from mate, but id give him the sack. the most they have had is 32 and that included 8 blokes from the werribee super rules team who came down for a run.
They do play there first praccy match in two weeks. Things are starting to look a bit brighter with Calbert coming back but there still are a few regulars who haven't showed up yet, Back line will struggle again

Fare point, but heres some info on each
Shannon - chasing money and a flag
Mayberry - properly wont play due to work and only played 6 games last year
Gilham - Coaching West
Calbert - has returned
Cornish - young guy stepping up to a higher legue at the right time in his footy career
Tobin - Dont know who this guy is ?
2 of the above are supposed to be good mates with the new coach and told him they would play, who needs enemies with mates like these!
Just had a look at the transfer list and he other names on it would all play two's even this year with numbers being low.
Can someone let me know how Barwon Heads will go this year, i have noticed they have lost a few players, Will Shannon get his Flag or just take the money and run again

I stand by my rumour that Centrals will have an extra 30 blokes on the track on Thursday (excluding Auskick and U18's), probably an extra 15-20 on Tuesday. Some good footballers, some very ordinary, doesn't matter good to have numbers on the track, helps with training drills.

A few questions...

Has Mark Pilling from Seymour joined South Barwon?

Who is coaching Portarlington?

Has St.Leonards ground been considered for footy like 2000 when Drysdale played there?

Is Rick Wilde playing at Newtown and Chilwell

Where is Tom T Hall?

hey guys, wondering if anyone can tell me which of the clubs is a good uni club to go play. Looking for a good bunch of blokes, but still want to play high standard of footy, prefereably GFL. Im thinkin of something similar to Redan in the Ballarat FL. Anyone got any suggestions??? Cheers.

bomber i play for bell park in the gfl and train at redan coz i live in b-rat for uni and they r pretty similar just the gfl is way more professional in how they go about things and the training is a little bit harder. i dont think there are any teams that are "uni teams" as such coz geelong isnt as much of a uni town as ballarat. great bunch of blokes at both clubs tho...

Drysdale only played a couple of games there when their ground was getting resurfaced for the finals series, but I remember umpiring on it one day and it was a great ground for both footy and umpiring, if it is still in the same nick as it was back then, which i doubt, it should be used...

Was that a joke tooley? St albans and footscray tafe would be some of the scummiest blokes goin round.
Plus they are TAFES..
1 - he asked for UNI clubs and 2 - in geelong, not the scum of the earth
